here are some more vids from this past weekends autox @ etown. I discovered how to make my car oversteer on command but was having a little trouble with turn-in and hitting cones. I never would have placed first because there was a mini KART running in my class that was about 5 seconds quicker then me on a 37 second course but my last two runs "would have" netted me a second place finish in novice but I couldn't avoid the same dame cone at the end of the run... twice. it was the second from the last one too. bummer. 37.xx + 1 cone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQ9JD40d5_o 37.xx + that same damn cone! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JU5JrCinYqI Last edited by alwaysinboost; 06-18-2008 at 04:22 PM. while everything was apart on the vette I decided to send the clutch back to McLeod to get freshened up. The cool thing about having a twin disc is that it can be rebuilt for cheap and you have a new clutch again for a fraction of the cost. Their customer service is awesome, took them only one day to rebuild my setup and I had them increase the PP clamping force to hold the extra TQ.
for those who have never seen a twin disc clutch this is what it looks like. Fresh from the box. Quadrupial strapped FTW!! Top disc Marcels between disc material for smooth operation intermediate plate bottom disc flywheel Flywheel, bottom disc & intermediate plate installed in the car. Note the alignment marks. using the alignment tool on the bottom disc. clutch reinstalled and driveline is back in the car As it sits now I'm just waiting on AFR to send my heads back to me. they told me 7-10 days about a month ago... |

july 4th weekend update
car is back together and on the road. had a couple issues with the valve stems but AFR stepped up to the plate and took care of them. Spent the weekend putting everything back togeher and got to beat on her for a couple hours on Sunday. I forgot how much fun, and how fast, this car was.
I have to take it easy for the first 500-1000 miles or so until the clutch fully breaks in but I still managed to scare the crap outta my neighbor with only a couple PSI. Here are some pics of the progress from this weekend. combustion chambers all cleaned up: pass side head installation: intake manifold back on and starting to install misc. assc. blower back on & belt installed: intake piping powder coated wrinkle black and installed: back in the garage after "road testing" and a quick bath: still have just a couple small things to address before I'd consider it 100% but its nothing major, just want to tidy up some of the wires and boost leak test it so I don't have to worry about blowing IC pipes off on the street @ 18psi! hope to get all the break-in miles done before this Sunday so I can autox @ warminster w/phillyscca. Then the following weekend on the 20th I'm taking her out to Pocono for the grand slam weekend. This should be her maiden voyage on a road course and I can't wait. Should be able to hit 170+ on the straights... if I have the balls that is. |

Really looking forward to seeing the car at warminster this weekend. I can't imagine how fast this car is in the quarter but also doing autoX. I will keep an eye out for ya. Do you already know what heat your running?

I'm not running that day. Dsm is torn apart, and my daily wont be getting raced. I will probably just be there taking pics/videos enjoying the day. I will keep a look out for you cause i definitely wanna see the vette in person.

clutch is almost completely broken in now, only about ~100 more miles to go. I've been driving it every night racking up the miles getting deeper and deeper into the throttle as I go. I'm up to about 3/4 throttle now in the first 4 gears and its is down right nasty.
1st gear forgettaboutit, its over in the blink of an eye. 2nd gear is just as bad. 3rd gear I can sorta hook down low, but it will break traction if not careful. 4th gear I haven't had any traction issues at all but I haven't really pushed it yet either. Haven't gone WOT yet in any gear but considering the amount of TQ this thing is making the new Nitto RII's are holding well. They key is throttle control. Can't wait to hit pocono on the 20th and really open this bitch up. I think I'm going to need to address the brakes after this. |

Z06 is all broken in now and ready for Pocono this Sunday.
DId an autox with it this weekend @ Warminster w/SCCA. Very long day, probably the longest autox I've been to, but it was a lot of fun. This car is not setup for the cones though as you can tell in the vids below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QidDL9evZqQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWh2GMTUWZs this car has ZERO understeer, lots and lots and lots of oversteer, but not a hint of understeer. |

can't forget about the EVO
after almost 100k miles I firgured it was time for some 'freshening up'.
did an EVO IX front end conversion w/SE Lip also did a JDM rear bumper still have to re-work the exhaust a little so it sits better and add the front emblem to the bumper but its 99% there. also picked up some forged BBS MR rims which I'm going to try the new Dunlop STAR SPEC tires out on. Then its back to RT/Tuning for them to work their magic on the Hunter rack. |

I want your stable of cars. Looking real good, and dam that vette is fast. I live like 4 miles from the track, so if I am running about I might see you gassing up at the wawa or BP, where everyone usually tops off. I wish I could run at Pocono, even with my slowness..why do those HPDE days have to be so expensive *sigh*.

tommyb what is the best place to get gas close to the track? that station right off 81 charges like 5 bucks a gallon, fu(kin jackoffs, is there another place close that sells 93 for the normal 4.25 a gallon?

Yeah that gas station rips people off like woah because everyone thinks that's the only station nearby. If you take 115 north off of 80 for about a mile you will come to a Wawa on the right and BP on the left. I just passed it today and 87 was $4.15/gl at BP,and Wawa was at 4.11 I think. I usually get BP for regular 87 ( for some reason Wawa 87 burns way to fast), but when I had my MSP, I would tried 93 from both places and they seemed to last about the same.

BP is the fuel I try to use all the time. Their 93 seems to work the best in my car. I'll check my map and see if I can find where you're talking about.
