The last dyno I did on the ****ty stock tune with a horrifically leaking manifold, I had around 190hp at the wheels. Nothing too impressive -- but I'm at stock boost and not looking to push my luck, considering my MSP is my only car. So if I blow something, I'm walkin'.

Anyhoo, the rods of the stock block are like pencils. Generally only good for around 230-ish whp. So 250whp will be flirting with ka-boom.

She's right.

I was at 220ish for a bit and ready for, umm..."speed holes" in the block whenever I went WOT, lol.

I've seen you around too man, nice car. If you see a silver Miata running around, throw it up.

Good luck with her!

Speed holes = wise ass way of saying swiss cheese'ing the block.

No, she never blew.

Some have toasted the motor at stock power, some have ran 250ish. I was always just nervous as hell, expecting it to go.

Look at it this way, if she pops, built it stronger!!!

I had a catless mid, unichip, FMIC (need one? lol), intake. That was good for decent power. What all is done to yours?

If we're talking strictly engine mods, I have:

Mental Addiction FMIC kit (which includes all the hardpipes and the SRI with a K&N filter), single cast runner (626) intake manifold, Thunder exhaust manifold, ATP wastegate actuator, NGK ZFR7F-11 spark plugs, AWR rear motor mount, SLS front motor mount, relocated my MAF to the cold pipe (intercooler to throttle-body), Greddy Type RS BOV, and then a custom custom turbo-back exhaust (2.5" Corksport s-pipe, single 3" Magnaflow hi-flow cat, two 3" resonators, 3" stainless steel piping back to HKS muffler). I think that's it. A couple different tanks and caps, but those don't do jack for performance, LOL.

I've been sitting on a Unichip EMS for over 2 years, tried a couple long-distance tunes that ran too lean for my tastes. Chances are that I'm gonna wind up selling it -- since, like I said before, I have no interest in pushing my luck on the stock block, and the MSP as it stands now does just fine for a DD.
