Buying a car from Jersey..questions

I am going to be buying a car from Jersey ( I live in PA) within the next two weeks. I understand that I need to take the title to a Notary and have the registration put in my name. At that point they will give me a temp registration paper and a plate to put on the car.

Heres the issue. Once I am handed to title from the seller, he is going to take the plates off and I will need to get it back to PA. Driving from NJ to PA with no plates might pose a problem with our friends in uniform.

Would it be smart to take the plates off my current car and put them on the new car, just so everything is visually kosher. Even if an officer did run the plates, the cars are almost identical

My car now :1996 Red Impreza Sedan

Car I am Buying :1995 Red Impreza Coupe

Is there anything I am missing in this process?
Thanks in advance
-pete

Why not use the plate you get at the Notary?
