lookin at a grand national..

there a grand national near me and it been sittin in this driveway for as long as i can remember. its a aunt of my brothers friend and im lookin to buy it from her. the car has paint but the clear is well faded. body looks straight. 60xxx orginal miles. she is the orgianl owner and im pretty sure she knows what she has. my question to you guys is what do you think i should offer her. i looked on ebay but there all like restored cars going for like 15,000 to 25,000. i dont really no what it needs other then tires, hoses, and things like that. any input is apprciated. thanks guys

First thing first, dont over price yourself. Ask her what she's looking to get, you could maybe "steal" it for like 5k so dont offer anyting like that

Just try to talk to her yourself, and see what she is looking for.

you sure its 60k and not 160k? 60k original miles and she knows what she has? your not driving it away for under 10k. now if its higher mileage and beat up, i think 5k would be a stretch. i know the older gn's (83-84ish) you could probably pick up for less. if its a t-type you might be able to get it cheap. but a real 86-87 low mileage gn? good luck.

If she really know's what kind of car it is and knows about the car, you probably are looking at as little as $8k. No way you will be able to get it for $5k.

im not sure what it is. I KNOW its an 87. has 72xxx miles(i went and looked at it) and no t tops. im not sure what the differnece between all them is. (gnx t type gn) im doin my research now. i know it worth a good amount but i just no it was sittin there for at least 8 years. last inspected in 2001. i just thought maybe shes tired of lookin at it and i could pick me up a steal. im gonna talk to her this week. ill keep you posted on what she says.

so its an 87. i highly doubt its a gnx (BBS wheels and vents on the front fenders. 2 most noticeable ways to tell) and it most definitely wouldnt be just sitting in someones driveway. the odometers roll back to all zeros at 100k so it could be 172k on it. im not 100% sure on this but i think all t-types had chrome bumpers (and different color options too. in fact, im not even sure if there were black t-types in 87). all gns were black and the bumpers, grill, and headlight trim were black and not chrome. Vsix has a lot of knowledge about these cars so maybe pm him that would be your best bet.

i have been hunting for one for years. i dont think ill ever get it. i bid and won a monte carlo with a gn swap on ebay some years back but the seller backed out cause his dumb ass forgot to put a reserve on it and i got it for $800. i was so close to getting one when i was 17 but my brother had to go an tell my mom what the car was capable of (probably would have been worth a fortune right now, if i didnt kill myself that is). so im really rooting for you to find a gem. hopefully save a rare car from rotting away for another 10 years.
