wrx vs. evo

Me and my friends were trying to debate what one would be better a 2004 wrx sti spec c or an evo 9 mr in everything including reliability, stock performance, modified performance, etc.

Oh boy.
I'll give you the answer that this will, eventually, boil down to; personal preference. They both have outstanding traits in similar aspects of performance, drive ability, and mod-ability, but it's a matter of what's most import to you.

you pretty much hit that one on the head.....it completely comes down to personal preference....they are almost identical in handling power...though imo the sti interior is a bit more refined with subtle touches that make it nicer...just little touches like the pedals shifter and whatnot..although i like the evo seats

To my knowledge there’s no Spec-C in the U.S. So there’s no real way for any of us to compare. I’ve driven STis, and frequently an Evo 9 MR. In the grand scheme of things (performance wise) they’re practically identical. The only way you can truly differentiate between the two of them would be to ring them to the limit on a road course.

It’s been mentioned before but personal preference plays a big part, especially if it’s your daily driver.

+1 to that because I think you can guess which one
I'd send you to.

I have always looked at it like this:

If your not going to modify and it's going to be a DD then go with the Subaru beacues it's a more comfortable DD. If you plan to modify and/or race then go with the evo because it's cheaper and you'll make more power with less $ spent.

This being Tri-State Tuners means we are in the US. The USDM Evo 9 MR does not have AYC (Active Yaw Control). Also there is no STi Spec C in the USDM.

Therefor, I would say the Evo 9 MR would be better because it actually exists. hahaha.

I am a big fan of both cars, but all things being equal I would take the sti. The interior and refinement are big for me, and even though it is easier to mod an evo (cams and such). I just think the STI has a more intresting engine, the boxer engine, despite being a pain in the ass is just really cool

Im personally a big Subie fanboy, but i have friends with STi's and Evo's. between the Evo 8 and an STi ill go with the Sti anyday...

but the new Evo 9 MR is in a higher leverl.. in everything from power to suspension. But if you wanna talk about the Evo 9 MR, conpare it to the new 07 STi. power levels are very simlier..

The Evo XI doesn't exist yet, but the Evo IX does.
