9/11 Tribute Beams

Went out last night to get some pics of the beams around the city. I really need to get a good quality tripod now. I use one of those cheap ones from walmart lol and I found it's limits. You may see little trails of light in the beams in some of the pics, those were actually thousands of birds flying in the beam. The bright light attracted them and they ended up shutting off the beams for about 30-40 mins to make them leave. I ended up heading home afterwards.

Really well done considering the tripod but it obviously worked!

I would add a little "pickiness" I have learned, watch your horizon. Some of the pics look a bit crooked. That being said, nailing that at night is very tough and being in NYC I am sure would make it even harder!

The flags shots are epic!

What makes it look so crooked is the distortion from the wide angle. All these shots were taken with my Sigma 10-20mm.

Ah that would make sense. Are you using Lightroom 3? The new lens correction feature rocks!
