Help w/slow mph from 1/8 to 1/4.

Went to track w/SRT-4 and ran these numbers:

60ft.........2.039
330..........5.724
1/8..........8.666
1/8 mph...85.64
990.........11.165
1/4.........13.395
1/4 mph...104.35 :thumbdow:

Mods. S1, AGP hooked to blue line 18psi to 15psi @red line, 3" side exhaust, 180 stat, 225/15/50 BF Good DR's,STS, Mounts, HKS BOV, stock plugs gapped at .46

Ran 94 octane w/3 gallons of 103 unleaded race gas. Did not WOT shift.

With the 1/8 mph, my 1/4 trap should be higher. No sign of detonation on the plugs. I don't think I have a boost leak. Boost holds fine. Can't figure it out. Any help please.

Hopefully soon. I've been at the track the last 3-4 weeks on Thursday. I'll be at the shore this Thursday. I still haven't been to the new place yet.

Times aren't bad, but the 1/8 mile mph indicates the 1/4 mile mph should be higher. Something must be happening up top. Pulled timing, slight detonation...?

That's pretty awesome you guys can gap your plugs that large. DSMrs gap their plugs at .028.

Why not drain your tank and use 3 gallons of straight race gas. Possible you have slight detonation and timing is getting pulled just like you said.

That 1/4 mph seems right on for your 1/8th mph. I trap 82-84 in the 1/8th, and 103-105 in the quarter. You might be like, a half a mph away from where you should be, but it's not a mind blowing difference.

I tend to agree. I'm not sure how much more you should expect up top. Have you talked to otherSRT-4 owners to find out what they're trapping with similar mods ?

Thanks for all the replies. Yes, I have talked to a few other guys. MOst guys/girls that run that speed in the 1/8, run about 108-109 in the 1/4. I am going to lower the gap. I maybe getting spark blow out. Someone also mentioned that maybe the stock intercooler becomes inefficeint after the 1/8 mile. First I'll try the gap lowered and check the car w/a scanner to check that the timing isn't being pulled.

Thanks

I don't see much wrong with your timeslip. Remember that it is all HP in the last 1/8th. Your good start and time in the 1/8th is just that. You are starting about as fast as you can, getting good traction, you just don't have the hp for a much lower pass. Very good time for a S1.

I would lower the gaps, your plugs might be blowing out up-top from being gapped so high. Are you tuned?

I agree. I lowered them and am checking for any leaks, just in case. I am not fully tuned yet. I have the equipment needed, just need more time.

Your problem is that you are FWD...JFWY

I agree your times don't appear to be too off. Tuning will definately play a big key on your powerband and you will hopefully pick up the MPH's.

I dont know how well srt-4's handle tuning, but ill tell you something with my evo. Ive had a bunch of parts installed( not to be disclosed) and an afc-2. My dyno run with all parts with afc-2 hooked up but not tuned was harsh. After tuning was all said and done, I picked up 72 hp, and a nice amount of torque, from just tuning fuel, wait until I start messing with timing when I get ems...

I agree w/you about tuning. I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. I know that the SRT-4's run very rich, so I'll need to lean it out a little. Unfortunately, I spend most of my day fixing other cars and don't get to my own.
