rubbers

I need new rubber. I have Sumitomo HTR Z II right now... bought them for $66 a piece on tirerack... but you get what you pay for... 10k miles and they're beat. Not only that, a heavy duty stable took out one of them... so i've got the donut on.

I'm looking to spend at most $120 a tire... but i don't know what to look for...

size is 205/50 r17

Hey scape im running the Falken FK452's on my skittle and i couldnt be happier. However a ****ty camber/alignment caused my front passenger to beat itself down really fast.

Previously i had the sumitomo htr z and they were just ok, and only lasted a year...under 10k

Are you looking for summer performance, or a good, all season?

A lot of people I know (including me) use Kuhmo Ecsta's

heh... this happened at 11am today... went to sears and waited two hours for them to look at the tire for 10 minutes and say it can't be fixed...

I needed new tires anyway... i had noticed that the sumitomos were running looooow on tread.

But if you end up with tires getting tossed in this size, let me know anyway... i may be interested in picking up a set just in case...

Probably more than you're looking to spend but Toyo Proxes 4 are the best tires I've ever owned, although my size is 295/30/20. I'd recommend trying to find some sort of closeout or whatever on Toyos. You could also try looking for another size tire to see if the price is different, 225/45/17 is the same height and just a little bit wider, couldn't hurt unless your tires are already rubbing.

Most important questions..... What is the purpose of the car and its functions? (daily driver, street and drag, grip, just beating on, drift etc) What are you looking for in a tire? (high performance drag radial, something that's harder then hell and last 40K, something that's really sticky in the summer)

Tires are tricky you cant have uber sticky tires that will last for years, You need to get what suits you best. In my case I want a sticky street tire and if I get 10K or 2 years I'm happy. You may have to compromise.

But I like Nitto, they wear fast but grip good

I've got stock rims right now... i intend on going w/ a wider rim in the future though and picking up a better tire when i do... as the point for the wider rim is a bigger contact patch...

i'll look into those toyo's when the time comes though

Ya i dont even ride around with my spare, due to car audio. But the best bet is looking on srtforums for someone trying to buy like 2 wheels and scoop the others.`

I run the FK 452s on the Baja. I am pretty happy with them. I've got close to 25k on them and they're not quite to the wear bars yet. They are predictable as hell too. I know what they're gonna do and when in both dry and wet conditions. I have had some pulling issues on badly unenen roads and if pushed they will hydroplane some. That is probably more of a width issue though, I run 245 45 18s on 18x8 rims. Let me know what you think once you get them on. Hopefully befor snow though. lol

I have Kumho Escta LX Platinum's on my BMW and I like them. The car weights a lot and they keep it gripped to the road.
