Somedays I feel the same. Then I see my 34MPG and don't get as sad.

I sold my TDI over the weekend. I needed the money to pay some things off. I just ordered a bunch of parts to start fixing the Touareg. Valve cover gaskets and a full timing service worth of parts are on their way - belt, water pump, thermostat, tensioner and idlers, serpentine belt, and serpentine tensioner and idler. I need to investigate a coolant leak while I have everything apart. After that, I'll probably tackle the leaky exhaust flex pipes. I have the Touareg listed for sale currently, as well. I'm an idiot and just really need to get my life together. The R32 isn't going anywhere, though. I want to get an AWD daily driver to replace both the Jetta and the Touareg, and just have the R32 and a single daily driver.

So, the R32 may see a few weeks of daily duty while I get the Touareg back to top health.

With all that said, I'm still doodledicking around with the R32. I'm going to be at Carlisle this weekend for the Import show. I haven't gone since the last standalone Import & Kit Car show before they (re)merged it with the Performance & Style show a couple years ago.

I got a new wastegate for the car. I have a hunch that the old one was sticking. I tried cleaning it up and everything as best I could, but my symptoms remained. So, now I'm probably the only R32 with a VS Racing product, because those guys are yuppies and need expensive ****.

Got a bike rack and a kayak rack. The roof bars actually have purpose now.

I started changing my touareg's cat and am thoroughly frustrated. They really cram those v8s in there. I can only imagine the V10 diesels.

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to doing the exhaust. I didn't make any progress on the timing job this weekend. I'm going to get back to it tonight. I have everything torn apart, fan assembly lifted out, and got the crank pulley unbolted. Didn't make it any farther, though. I'd like to get as far as getting the water pump and thermostat out tonight.

I weighed the pig over lunch, today. Half tank of fuel, a dish of ice cream in the center console, all kinds of random **** inside the car, bike/kayak mounts and cross bars, etc, plus turbo, intercooler, intercooler pipes, etc. Everything under the trunk floor (spare/jack/tools/etc) removed, all A/C stuff removed, all windshield/rear windshield/headlight washer stuff removed. Somewhere between 3500-3520. I'm cool with that. It's pretty much right where I expected. I think they're supposed to have a factory curb weight of 3550.

I had no idea these weighed that much. The size is misleading- I'm sure the car doesn't feel like 3500lbs though in the corners!

E30s are......really light.

Yeahhhh, the MKV R32 is really fat.

Edit: I believe a lot of the weight is in the Haldex setup. I think the GTI is roughly 3200lbs.
