Anarchy Performance Drift WRX Build - Let the hating begin

Anarchy Performance 02 WRX Drift Build

I recently got my hands on a 02 Subaru WRX with no engine or trans so I am going to do something a little different with it. I have been wanting to build a RWD WRX for a while so I'm going to make it happen. I also just happen to have a spare SR20DET engine and trans laying around the garage so I'm going to drop it in.

Some of you are going to love this and other will choose to hate. This is for those of you who choose to hate.

Now why you ask?
1) I have a Subaru with no engine or trans and a spare SR20DET engine and trans laying around
2) The cost to build a Subaru engine and trans that can take the kind of beating drifting puts on a car is just ridiculous.
3) The SR20DET comes with a pretty solid trans and is cheap to replace. Maybe I'll drop in a Z32 trans down the road. We'll see what happens
4) How many 240sx's do you see out on the drift track? How many SR20DET swapped WRX's do you see running around? Nough Said

The way it sat the day I picked it up

You mean it just won't bolt in?

By chance have a link or photos? I have seen it done on a 2.5RS but I honestly haven't seen it done in this chassis. I am going to be running a Microtech Standalone so wiring will be cake.

I'm going to see how long it takes me to grenade the R160 and then eventually fit a R200 in there. I give it two days lol

It definitely would be cool to see but I think Ryan has a good point.

Do they even make drift oriented suspension parts for the WRX that you would need to make this a competitive car?

Definitely interested to see how this turns out!

Not really such a thing as drift oriented suspension parts. Don't let marketing fool you.

You may be ok with the SR trans if you keep the weight of the car down. That's what will kill the trans fast.

So what your doing is putting a sr20det in a suby pretty much... Adding "drift" doesnt really account for nothing.

No such thing. I agree with OB on this. Whether you set up the car for grip or "drifting" is up to you.

GLWTB

this suby is cool i guess http://www.wreckedmagazine.com/watch...25-powered-sub

According to the previous owner the car weighed in at 2900lbs. The car no longer has the cf parts so I'm sure it's a bit heavier. Keeping the weight down is one of my goals.

I think the fact that car is going to be built for the sole purpose of drifting qualifies it as Drift build. Should be attending all the clubloose events this year. I haven't posted anything about the rest of the setup because I haven't really made up my mind on what parts are going on this.

I watched many Subaru's that were converted to RWD at the rallycrosses. They didn't fair to well but good luck!
