Not under the licensing terms with VW! This exhaust can only come from them.

If I had a GTI, yeah I could buy one directly from them but since this is a VW factory option part that’s VIN-locked....

I love the remus exhaust but the pricing is just too much for my poor self.

Update from Cars245 about the Akrapovic: The exhaust will arrive in their warehouse by July 10th.

Progress! Might have this on the car by August

Performance Pack aka Clubsport S brake rotors and pads installed.

The Clubsport S uses the same rear rotors as the stock GTI/R, so only the pads were changed back there.

Even after 16.5k miles, the factory rotors were noticeably heavier than the Clubsport rotors.

Good comparison test amongst the mk7 lineup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ebp4EIyXflc

I'm interested in seeing what the R could do with the Clubsport S front end parts (alum subframe, front LCA bushing, wheel knuckles) now that the brakes are same.

Weight becomes the only disadvantage once tires are changed.

Looking forward to seeing how it drives. ClubSport S turn-in and front end grip with all wheel drive dragging it a bit?

Is the aluminum subframe 100% dimensionally the same for the suspension pickup points?

Lighter rotors should be a nice improvement even if you can't really feel them.

Great news on the exhaust!

Yup! 100% same, just 7 lbs lighter and stiffer.

Agreed, excited all around. Rotors are a 5lbs reduction and I can’t wait to drive it!

Tested the new pads and rotors out.

Braking has definitely improved. Pedal feel needs to be tightened up a little bit, but otherwise much better.

Have started to notice a whine on decel when coming to a stop. Need to inspect. Sounds like it’s coming from passenger side of the engine bay. Not sure what’s over there. Input shaft?

Nice looking brakes. I'm excited to see the exhaust. Will there be a sound clip?

Aluminum subframe, bolts and washers ordered. Saved $300 by ordering overseas, even after shipping, vs. ordering from ECS Tuning!

https://e1motorsports.com/products/a...golf-gti-golfr

Domestic-based shops are so much more expensive on this part! Geez I wouldn't have paid this much.

Next up are the LCAs with the solid rubber bushing and lastly, those wheel knuckles.

Whine on decel is gone now...think the car sat for too long and just needed some gear oil splashed around. Did a 100 mile drive Friday to break in the new brakes and have fun. This car is definitely coming along, still a little front end biased in turns but the Clubsport parts should help with that.

Making an R that actually feels like the front end is *really* good will be impressive.

Thank you 😊

Thats the goal! Figure it will be same as a Clubsport S but with the front strut bar.

Should be a turn-in monster
