Toothless69's 2005 Mitsubishi Evo 8
I have owned it for a about 2 years now and drove from central PA to Hamton, VA for it. When i picked it up it was already modified. Mostly just bolt ons and it was on a low boost conservative tune due to the original owner barely driving it anymore. So as soon i got her home i took her to TPG Tuning to get tuned. Unfortunately the injectors were garbage so i picked up a new set of injectors and we through her on the rollers. She ended up putting down 441whp on 29lbs. I drove this car up up to a month ago on this setup and have enjoyed every minute of this car. I do a lot of autocrossing with the Central PA region and this car has been great and a blast to race. I unfortunately lost a lot of my old photos of the car when switching phones so if you would like to see any old ones of the car you can see them on my instagram @toothless69 Last edited by toothless69; 06-13-2018 at 11:47 AM. |

Last month i decided to make the switch to ethanol. So we always make a big day out of going to get tuned. So about 7 friends and i went back to TPG Tuning and me and a buddy of mine both got our evo's tuned. I wanted to keep dual mapping on the car so he did a pull on 93 and it put down 423. During the last year we have made some adjustments to the tune causing it to drop a little. So after making sure the 93 tune was good we drained the tank and dumped in the e85! She finally settled in at 493whp. This was honestly more than i was expecting to gain since the only thing i did to the car over the last year was a few supporting mods to help flow ethanol better (fuel rail and feed line). And this car is also stock block! So i am quite the fan of ethanol. Heres the dyno sheet from that day. I will post my setup in the next post.

Man now I miss my evo again
Sounds like a great all around car. Almost 500 on a fp green is up there but your build is exactly how I think most people should have there set-up. hopefully the block stays together, if not I guess you'll just have to build a stroker Welcome and be sure to update frequently.

I was finally able to get my hands on an oem Jdm rear bumper over the winter and luckily in our group of friends is an extremely good painter.

Over the weekend myself and a lot of the guys went to our local track to run the test n' tune for the first time this season since this is the first time all of our cars are off jackstands. It was an awesome day and everyone left being able to drive their car home. I ended up running a 11.42 @124mph. I was having issues all day with grip and trying to get it to hook but with bald tires you can only do so much. I ordered a set of tires last week but unfortunately they didn't arrive in time.

After two weeks of dailying the evo i finally picked up a new daily yesterday! A little over two weeks ago i was driving home in my BMW 325i when a horse (Yes a HORSE!) ran out from behind a house right into me. Making the car a total loss. Heres what a car looks like after hitting a horse at 40mph. I was lucky to walk away from it without a scratch.

Finally had some time to do some work yesterday. My manifold and bolts/studs have looked horrendous for the last year so i decided it was time to replace all the hardware. A few weeks i won a contest on a evo page on facebook (EvoSpec Performance) and he specializes in making titanium parts for Evo's and i got a gift certificate so i decided to use it towards his Ti manifold stud kit. I ended up replacing the turbo flange bolts with some new ARP bolts also. I'm glad i ordered these because one of the bolts almost snapped off in the turbo and luckily the housing was stronger and just the threads off the old bolts got chewed off. I also sandblasted the manifold and threw on some fresh paint. I used the rattle can VHT Ceramic coating. We'll see if it holds up a little better this time around after prepping a little better.
