Modification Maddness continues on dangerousatom's 03 WRX Wagon

After the totaling of my daily beater a 2002 WRX swapped 97 Subaru OBS I have started on a new DD a 2002 WRX Wagon. 147k on the motor with crashed valves. So after acquiring a 04 WRX long block with 64k and gathering parts, along with a ton of left overs from other builds I have finally started the build and a serious engine bay clean-up. Luckily every suspension mod swaps over from one car to the other.

The body is in great shape minus a few dings in the hood. I should have some exterior shots eventually.....weather is sucking with snow and all for any good shots of the car. As you can see the bay is filthy, the previous owner just drove it and did not really keep things clean.

So far all motor bits are cleaned and painted. I quickly port matched the heads to the intake manifold & intake risers. The stock EVAP system has been basically deleted and the fuel system has been re-routed to be a parallel feed. TGV deletes along and the 16g turbo from the last car along with an APs hard inlet are going on the motor. The 97 Subaru was tuned to 19 psi and I am planning on keeping it there.....it was plenty fast for a daily driver. With the transferred suspension mods and a few other bits I have picked up over the last few months the car should drive like its on rails.

It may be a few weeks till I get more pic's of the car and the motor going in ....snow and weather along with work are not making things easy to get this done fast.

Thanks...ya its getting a lil out of control with paint and all, but with my job I have a vehicle through work so if I need wheels I have something. That gives me time to do it clean and the rite way from the start. Im hoping to have the motor in and it on the road by the end of Jan or so. The suspension transfer and other stuff will happen after that.

A day or so????? OK

The car is finally up and running with most of all the previous mods transferred over plus a few extra bits. After it smoking like a freak for the first start up,due to not venting any of the crank or head breather. It now is running great!!

Rerouted all vacuum lines to a distribution block with the uses of 1/4" push lock lines and fittings. Reran all the EVAP lines into a cheep Ebay catch can, with the same type lines and fittings and nothing is returned to the intake....VTA.

The transferred & new mod list:
-BC coilovers
-20mm Whiteline front sway bar with solid end links
-22-26mm Whiteline rear sway bar with solid end links
-Rear Whiteline stout mounts
-Rear sub-frame lock down kit
-Rear sub-frame ploy bushings
-Trans poly bushings
-Steering rack poly bushings
-Whiteline Rollcenter Kit
-STi aluminum control arms
-Rear Powerslot brake rotor upgrade w/EBC Green Pads
-Ebay 2 core aluminum racing radiator with slim fans
-Blouch 16g turbo
-STI Pink injectors
-Port matched Header w/GS crossover pipe
-Some cheep Stainles Steel Ebay UP
-Ebay 3" DP
-Greddy nock off Evo 2 cat back
-STi TMIC
-APS hard turbo inlet
-SPT Short ram intake
-Deleted TGVs
-GS 8mm intake maniflod spacers
-home made parallel fuel line system w/Summit regulator and pressure gauge. The first FPR was ditched due to it being a total piece of ebay crap!!!
-Chopped GFB short shifter
-17" Rota Attacks powder coated in Ink Black with Moon Dusk.....by LPC
-225/45 General Altimax Arctic Snow tires.....these things grip like crazy and ware like iron, I run them all season!!
-the Rally Innovations Light bar will be going back on from the old wagon with Hella 500 high beams

Needs to be washed bad!!

I was fearing Id have to put some sedan fenders on it due to the 225 wide tires and STi sedan lower control arms. But I dont rub and Im not planning on lowering it anymore, even though it has coilovers.

Went to RT tuning on 3/21

The front is fully aligned and camber/castered to spec......no rub-age
The rear is only out .02 and .04 I could get rear top plates or lower adjustable control arms but its soo close and its a Daily driver, so I think not.

It would seem that my fuel rails have slow leek!! The hoses I used are a skosh too big and no matter how I hose clamp it they weep a lil gas So on go the Aeromotive Fuel Rails after being modded to my parallel fuel lines.

Also Im waiting on all the bits for my V2 rear C-D pillar prace. V1 ( below ) was in my old 97 OBS........

http://www.rs25.com/forums/f9/115663...ml#post2114833

V2 will be in fabracation mid April and all the threaded hardware has been upgraded to 1/2-20 thread from 3/8-24. This should allow major intentioning on all points "rear".

Other mods and upgrades that are in progress or done:
-New rear brake backing plates....since the OEs fell apart during brake swapping.
-Alpine head unit w/i-pod dock installed
-Rear Trunk light installed
-Hood struts installed
-Powerslot rear rotor upgrade and Super Blue fluid flush done
-3qt Redline Light weight shock proof & 1qt 75-90 along with rear diff fluid are in the UPS mans truck somewhere.....
-need to make new Mud flaps

Future projects are:
-Flock my extra 02-03 dash with a custom molded 52mm gauge pod on it somewhere.
-Save some money for when the transmission goes ka-boom!

Ja most definitely. The older setup from the GC wagon was flexing on the C-D pillar bars so it all got redone in bigger ID pipe and square tube. Plus the heim joints and turnbuckles are bigger too. It has a substantial weight increase from the 1st version ( maybe 15lbs total ) but is far stiffer

Installed my "knock-off" Takata harness and Mag light seat holder today, along with a UR over drive crank pulley.
