nitrous. . . . 200 wet shot. . . .spray at redline in 1st gear . . . . and then get a new car.

all joking aside, you're not gonna be able to pull much else from that beast without dropping some serious coin into it. . . .like a full blown turbo kit. . .a supercharger. . . nitrous (not a 200 shot. . . just for the record). . .or some amazing headwork (the head on the engine. . . not your head). All of these options will require upgrades in other departments as well (a turbo on a stock N/A fuel system is probably a bad idea).

IMHO you should stop throwing money at it to make it fast. . .because as soon as it is (if it even gets there) something major is going to explode. Personally I think you should save your money for a while and get a better base platform to work off of. . .like a used SRT-4, DSM, WRX, or maybe some domestic muscle.

If I'm way off with this, I'd appreciate if some of the more knowledgable members would let me know. . . as I'm not a professional tuner and I'm sure there's still plenty for me to learn. But I'm fairly confident that this is logical advice.

-Tim

P.S. - Shawn. . . you find out what a syncrho is yet?

I realize that the probe can be fast. . . any car can be fast. . . the logic behind my advice was that the probe is not the best canvas to start on. . .especially when you're working on a pretty tight budget. True, he could probably go with a TT kit, single turbo, supercharger, or get a lot of N/A work done and make some good power . . . but I think unless he is absolutely glued to the car in all aspects (looks, handling, etc.), the end result would turn out to be more costly than it's worth.

But I'm all for people taking an ordinary car and making something amazing out of it. . . like piratius' TT v6 stang. . . or any of the turbo plastic cars. So I say if you're serious about this car, you should look into some forced induction. . . just make sure you mod smart, and you back up your snail(s) with enough go-juice and tune it right before you go do any WOT 30-120 pulls.

^^^ What he said.

I apologize for cluttering up your thread with my drunken comments last night, but PMO is one of the best Probe/MX-6 companies out there. They do custom turbo, supercharger, and NA products (even for the 1gen too!).

Talk to Todd, he's really cool guy...they just released a supercharger kit (6psi) and I think the price is pretty reasonable. Like is said, make sure you've beefed up the fuel system, I know the Probe's needs some love before it can handle a lot more power.

The PMO website has a post on how to mod the fuel rail to use Nissan high-flow injectros from an SR-20 motor, info about fuel pump swaps, Fuel pressure regulators and standalone systems for the probe (Megasquirt!). I'm also one of the forced induction moderators there

Take care, and whatever you do, have fun!

No Stock. Stock = bad. Probe GT clutches die in a horrible fire.

Seriously, the only brand of clutch that Everyone says positive things about is the SBC - South bend clutch line. They're fairly streetable, come in many different trims, and hold t3h power.

Why not just make payments on something new? I mean you probably pay just as much each month to fix it!

Probe GT has the V6 in it right?

I know someone who had one that went 14.0 or so with just bolt ons. It sounded awesome too. He had a 70 shot, I think, on it and it put him to a 13.0. The motor in them has potential, it just depends on if you want to make it use its potential.
