New DD - 2015 Audi S4
Starting from the beginning....took delivery in October 2014 of a 2015 Audi S4 with the following specs: * Daytona Gray Pearl * 6MT * Sport differential * Technology Package * Bang & Olufsen stereo * Carbon Atlas inlays To the chagrin of my salesman, I asked that the shipping cover be left on it so I could unwrap it myself: Out with the old, in with the new: As soon as I got home I put my summer wheels+tires on. Looks dumb at this ride height, but not as dumb as the stock wheels: View of the new from the Z: ~40 miles on the clock I had Xpel Ultimate installed on the front bumper, hood and fenders, as well as 3M Color Stable 35% tint all around: A couple hundred miles in, I had a set of H&R Street Performance coilovers installed. Freshly lowered: A couple weeks later the temperature dropped and it was time for winter wheels+tires and roof racks: Installed Hoen yellow fog lights and matte black vinyl strips on the front grille: European spec ("e-code") headlights installed. Same as US-spec except wider beam pattern and clear corner reflectors: Full winter mode in the Poconos. This car was a champ in the snow! Early spring 2015, installed CTS Turbo air intake and put my summer wheels+tires back on: Lowered the front end a bit. Gotta love Daytona Gray in the bright sunlight: Quick photo shoot with my wife's mk7 GTI: I found a set of OEM S5 wheels and tires locally and thought I would give them a try for that OEM+ look. Fitment is pretty much spot-on for this body style....same spoke pattern as the OEM S4 wheels, but wider and lower offset: I've since put my aftermarket wheels back on, but I'm kind of digging the OEM wheels more. Big decisions to make lol Last edited by sry110; 06-08-2015 at 08:28 AM. |

In 2013 they revised the front/rear bumpers and headlight/taillight designs, as well as updated the MMI (infotainment) system and added the side assist feature as standard equipment along with the MMI option (now called the Technology Package). They also revised the steering system which is now electro-mechanical.....I won't dare call this an upgrade over the hydraulic assist steering in the 2012 which was far superior.
The distinguishing option that I have on the new one but not the old one is the rear Sport Differential which is a torque-vectoring system that distributes torque left or right across the rear axle to mitigate understeer, and in fact induce oversteer in certain settings/conditions. It's really a cool feature and I can feel a distinct difference between this car and the previous one in the handling department. No more plowing through turns. |

Looks nice. What lowering springs did you/have installed. Is the suspension adjustable?

Thanks Brian! I could be up for a summer meet, although not sure I want to be anywhere around that new car of yours....I've already gotten the itch to go to the dark side...
Yeah I really don't like the electro-mech steering, it has a weird notchiness in low ambient temperature so winter driving is kind of irritating. It's been pretty good so far this summer though. |
