I tried sending you a PM, but your inbox is full. Anyways here is what I was going to send. If you don't want to answer it on the forum feel free to PM me. Thanks!

Do you do residentail or commercial sales? Just curious what the base and commission looks like for them. I like working at ABB, but they system I relocated to is kind of messed up staff wise. When I worked in Western PA it was much better. I could of relocated back, but I really like living here and the schools are great for my kids.

Heard a 3rd grader say, "Ms. C. has a fine a** onion booty!" in the bathroom today. I did nothing because he was telling the honest truth. I'm thinking education is not my thing. I figured you guys would appreciate the story more than my wife. Good day to you all!

I work for Comcast as well, but in the Tech side of things. I'm a commercial installer in NJ. Let me tell you this though boosted fury.....I've never heard of anyone (sales/tech/whatever) that was promoted to salary, and simply allowed back to their old position 90 days later....I think that's a load of bull. Make sure you speak with HR and have it all written out in plain english well before you say yes. Don't go by what the supervisor/manager/direct promises....

Yeah the salary pay may be less than what you can currently make with your sales pay and commissions, but they also have bonuses and their pay raises are generally greater than what you see. So you may make less the first year or two overall, but you'll quickly surpass what you used to make and have more opportunity for advancement. Plus, if you play your cards right....make yourself known and apply for an open manager/director job relatively quickly.

I'm currently in that position, sort of. I'm still a tech, although I make almost as much as my supervisor does in salary. However his bonuses and what not still keep him ahead of me. But is it worth the minimal increase in pay to deal with the extra headaches and loss of job security? (once you go salary it's MUCH easier to replace you.) I need to decide which path I want to take. I'm still currently taking NCTI courses and have 5 under my belt. And about to apply to another one. All along taking leadership classes and training courses that even some supervisors haven't even taken yet....Work for the job you want, not the job you have.

I'm 30 years old, about to buy a house, and at this point, pretty much going to marry my gf. I don't want to be lifting ladders my whole life.

Thanks Antonio for that awesome input. It was said to be an interim basis to see if I fit the position. But I definitely would make sure that everything is in writing from HR to ensure if I do not want to pursue it that I can fall back into my sales position, which I may complain about at times, but actually enjoy.

The pay cut would be a hit as you said but now I'm thinking like you, do I want to knock doors for my career or try for upper management within, which is what I had envisioned all along.
