02 Ford Ranger Edge

Doubt anyone actually cares but...

On 11-11-2011 I hit a deer in my 08 Cobalt. Not worth fixing so I decided to get something new while I part the Cobalt out. I was looking at smaller sports cars but figured Winter is right around the corner anyway so I ended up getting this.... I bought it Friday 11-18-2011.

I bought a one owner 2002 Ford Ranger Edge "Plus". It has the 3.0L v6 engine. It is the regular cab 2dr model. Has Hi/Low 4 Wheel Drive. The truck itself has 148k miles but runs smooth and strong still.

This is my first Ford and my first pick up truck in general. I did have an old Jeep Renegade a few years ago..

I bought the truck bone stock besides the soft bed cover and the tail light covers.

Looking into lifting it, getting an intake, side steps and a brush guard, upgrading the exhaust and getting bigger tires.

11-22-2011 -
I installed the steering wheel cover and vent visors. Got new fog lights and wiper blades. Also K&n drop in filter and an oil change. All fluids have been checked and got a quote on some nice Swampers.

11-24-2011 -
I installed all new 6"x8" speakers. Front and rear. Thanks to a good black Friday deal. Sounds much better just need a custom sub enclosure to squeeze in more bass.

Below are the first pics I have taken of it from this past weekend... Ill be updating the pics as I do things to it.

The first day I took it off road a little.

The ifs lifts are pricey.

I like the edge. Better then some of the small older rangers. Drives smooth and does well so far off road.

Great truck and very comfortable. Not good on as compared to what I am used to though.

Buddy of mine had one of these. He traded it in for a Nissan Frontieer. The Ranger never game him problems but the feel of the Nissan was night and day better.

Enjoy this one. I bet it could take down a dozen deer.

Why not just drive it how it is, and save the money for your next sports car? It looks fine, and judging by your pictures... You seem like you rather be in a sports car than a truck.

I've driven a few of these, including our grandfathers 2wd 3.0L he lent us for the week or 2. They're such dogs with the auto, but they seem to run forever and are fun to beat the **** out of(my friends 4wd gets put through its paces). I'm +1 for you saving and selling this for a car, you had the only 4 door cobalt I've ever liked.

I miss my cobalt. And I get that a lot. Only sedan people actually liked.

I will get another sports car. Truck is for the winter at least. Still looking for a clean 240.

you could crank the torsion bars and a shackle/block lift for a cheap lift, but you'll need an alignment after.

The body lift is cheap, easy and won't change the suspension.I have 33s stuffed under my truck and I think it looks great.goes great in the mud and the snow with some weight in the back.

i totally forgot about the torsion bars / shackles... that would be a cheap way to get about 1-2'' of lift for dirt cheap !

another great site to look into would be " explorerforum.com " there is some decent ranger info on there as well...
