I already had about 75% of the rust fixed under the car so I am pretty happy about that.

Z31s are not common anymore as they just aren't popular, but they are just my favorite cars. The body lines are just pure 80's Japanese sex. Hopefully next season I can drop the car on some coilovers and can afford a set of Wantanbes to really make this car pop.
Sounds like your treating it right. While I think they are semi-desirable now, one day I think good examples of this car will be sought after. I'm actually surprised how cheap they are right now.

Cheap? Lol where? People try to sell rusty automatic 2+2 digidash models for like $3000+. Hell I overpaid on mine because I missed the under rust because I was so excited the body was straight and rust free. Though I did just find a decent rolling slicktop shell for pretty cheap, but I just don't have any room for it right now

I see more people looking for Supras and RX7s. Z31s was always last in its class in every category when compared to the other 80s Jap sports cars. But I'll take that VG30E over a 7M or a 13B anyday.

I guess that's what I meant by cheap. Compared to Supra and RX7s these have not hit the desirability appreciation curve yet.

Ahhh got ya. I am not sure they will. The Z31 was more of a touring car than a sports car when compared to the FC, Mk3, and the Starion. That's a car I wouldn't mind owning, a friggin Starion.

Well it has been a fun week. Brought my car home finally. Felt good. No overheating, responsive, had all the typical 80s car smells. Sadly I haven’t had the time to start looking into the other issues (has gauge, speedo, some of the signal lights) as my son was born on Monday night. Exciting times. He’s a cute little bugger and so far he’s a pretty good baby.

Congrats man! Don’t be nervous. Parenting comes natural to those who are excited about it I think.

So I came across a set of brand new Ceika coilovers for the Z locally, and the deal was too good to pass up. I also ordered an extra stock front suspension setup for use in the coilover install. Coilovers on Z31 aren't bolt ins in the front unless you do a S13 conversion. You have to weld a coilover sleeve to a cut strut housing on the spindle. A bit of a pain in the ass but it is what it is.

Worth it long term though, you can essentially swap inserts for whatever your needs are!

Yea but this is just going to be a cruising vessel. I might try to auto cross it once I fix the oil leak, but otherwise it’s more for looks and comfort. I have owned 4 previous Zs and a S13 and I’ve never lowered any of them so I’m excited.

Yeah, good shocks are worth the extra expense, especially for a lowered vehicle. It'll be WAYYY better than stock.

Ugh. So the guy I’m getting the stock fronts from informed me he screwed up his inventory and only had 2 driver sides. So now I have to find an 87-89 front passenger side Z31 Spindle. Ugh. This is going to be a pain. I wonder if Emp has one.

I gotta imagine parts are pretty hard to find for them anymore.

Yea. There are a few sites that specialize in stock Z31 parts but spindles are rare now because of coilover conversions.
