Yeah, this is how it should always be these days, IMO.

I'm constantly in meetings from 8-6, have employees dropping by to chat when I am free and oftentimes can't even leave for lunch. It makes it impossible to take a car in for service unless I wanted to be late to work with relying on a shuttle and stay even later to wait for the shuttle. (Since loaners don't happen for maintenance.)

They found and fixed the dash rattle. It was the digital display, so they just added 4 one inch strips of felt behind it and now the rattle is gone.

They also found the vibration coming from the wheels, and didn't find anything wrong with the rear dif (no leak or anything). They returned the car to me washed.

The rims are most likely slightly bent (common to the Pretorias and why I bought the wheel warranty). The rim specialist is under stay at home order so I'll have to wait for that to be repaired.

4,000 miles away from my 20k service.

I really love this car.

Yeah, compare that to my GM experience and it's like night and day.

I'm going to now install the front strut tower brace this weekend with the rattle fixed under warranty. I didn't want them to blame the brace for the noise.

Front strut bar installed.

It fits neatly under the rain cover so it’s not easily seen.

It’s done to a little lesser degree what happened on the E90:
- touch more steering feel/response
- made bumps less impactful inside the cabin

The car feels much more solid now in combination with the rear body brace.
It feels complete now. Almost as stiff as the Alpha in the Camaro (but obviously not)

Going to take it for more drives. I think what I will start to notice now are the strut travel limitations now that the chassis isn’t acting as a spring.

Lastly, one of the pretorias is bent slightly. I need to get the wheels fixed under warranty.

Why are OEM wheels these days so bendy? Trying to save weight cheaply?

Also, chassis acting as a spring is funny after driving a car for years that I couldn't open the door on when jacking up one corner

I think it’s due to smaller sidewalls and larger wheels

Haha right? I think the lack of rigidity is what helps older cars feel so quick at lower speeds

R is getting picked up for repairs tomorrow

Dash squeak has been improved but still there...
Trim around the interior door handle scratched up by the tech..
Wheels need to be repaired

my suspicions with the front bar have proven true... can feel travel limits of the shocks now better but the car really needed these braces. Very pleased with them combined with the RSB. Turn in and mid corner are quicker and flatter.

Also got my turbo inlet pipe and hose in from ali express. Shipping cost more than the parts. Will look to install after the car's warranty items are checked off. If these parts work similar to how they did on my GTI the off-boost throttle response should be improved as well as boost onset to help with the R's lag.

I really love driving this thing. Minor assembly and labor issues aside.

Had one of those what the hell moments and bought a full intake system for the car.

Should get here next week:
https://www.racingline.com/single-po...rt-where-to-go

Pretty excited for it, if it’s anything like their rear body brace the quality is going to be really good.

Dang busting out the big bucks for the R600. Does seem to be a good setup though.

Thank you, yeah... not cheap but I figured if it’s like the rear bar, the quality will be worth it. Plus it looks good in the engine bay too

I’ve kept those parts so I can see if there are any differences between the two setups.

Just from a visual and measurement perspective.

Then I’m going to sell the Ali Express pieces for $60 and recoup what I paid.

I have a suspicion they’re the same parts but wanted to verify

This is as much of testing a hypothesis as getting some shiny parts

They look good and it seems like someone is rebranding these.

Took the photos but need to upload!

Did something massive tonight and ordered the Akrapovic exhaust from the UK performance pack!

Will post more later but this now leaves the front rotors and full pads left from that kit to do. So excited!

Never heard of them. I'd love to do get a remus system but man that is so expensive.

Few updates:

- R600 intake is backordered until July because (get this) the turbo inlet pipe and turbo inlet are both running late from their supplier due to COVID. (Yes these are made in China)

- Akrapovic exhaust is in queue right now. VW restricts people from buying them without a VIN. I was able to provide cars245 with a VIN of a Euro Golf R that came with their Performance Pack to try to get around this. Fingers crossed it works! Otherwise, I’ll be buying from another source. Just love the sound too much.

- My R went back to VW to fix the dash rattle for the second time. I also had them inspect the wheels to see if they were bent. Wheels were road force balanced. No issues found and alignment is spot on. Tech found the vibration at 76-80 mph and it goes away at 95 mph (yeah, they had fun). He believes the vibration is from one of the tires and recommends replacing all four with fresh Michelin rubber. I will once the factory Continentals are lower. Theyre currently at 8/32nds.

And for the dash rattle: Ended up being the digital dash from the first visit in combination with two loose screws on the drivers side window regulator. Door panel removed, screws tightened, panel put back on. They also aligned the panel 100% perfectly. The window now retracts without grabbing the trim on the way down.

Can honestly say the car is now silent. The bracing has firmed up the chassis and ride quality is handled by the DCC.

With the RSB added in, this car is flat out fun to drive now. Perfect.

I haven’t been this happy with a car in as long as I can remember. Adding the exhaust and front brake upgrades from the Performance Pack should tie this up nicely for a long time.
