PC Gaming/Modified Rigs
My current set up: Cooler Master Storm Scout Case Asus M4N98TD Evo MotherBoard Phenom 4x 965 Processor Diamond Radeon HD 5770 GPU Corsair XMS 4gig x 4 Ram Rocketfish 5-in-1 Card Reader Seagate 1tb Harddrive Thermaltake TR2 600w PowerSupply Antec Fans all around Turtlebeach x12 headset Logitech mk710 Mouse/keyboard CPU is overclocked to 3.8 Ill have pictures up soon. Future plans as of right now include a second 5770 GPU linked via SLI, additional cooling for the Processor - possibly liquid. I feel like I am bottlenecking somewhere but I am still fairly new to building rigs.

You know what, I was looking into them and was thinking about it. I never experienced one yet, but from what i have read they seem awesome. They are still a bit expensive, so i havent pulled the trigger on it yet

the prices are not awful right now for certain ones. I have one on my netbook and it spoiled me but the prices were too high when I built this current machine. debating picking one up soon.

AMD is crossfire, Nvidia is SLI.
Id be careful running two 5770's on that PSU, its not very good, and a lot of them only output 430-450w. 600w is the suggested minimum for xfire 5770, and your not even pushing 600w. BF4 is going to struggle on that system big time, FYI. Your entire system is pretty much outdated and you don't have much ceiling room for upgrades before you start having to replace the majority of your components. If I were you I would play with what you have, and later build a new PC with a better cpu/mb/gpu/psu and reuse everything else, then sell the rest. A single modern card in the 150-200 dollar range will walk circles around a crossfire 5770 setup. Basic CPU chart: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html Basic GPU chart: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html Outdated but super useful PSU chart: http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx And try this: https://mega.co.nz/#!9w1VVAzR!JFXnQ1...7p_xZsRXJYw2Jk , might give your current rig a small FPS boost. Unparks your CPU cores that windows 7 and 8 park at default. |

I picked this rig up from a buddy who was having trouble with it. I replaced the processor and that had it running stable. Its definitely a few years outdated. I was confused on SLI/Crossfire. Get them confused :\ As mentioned before, I feel like it is bottlenecking while benchmarking. I run PS2 on High at around 35 FPS, sometimes a little less during heavy combat. I havent purchased BF4 yet so I didnt know. On Unigine Valley benchmark, I can only reach about 17 FPS on extreme.
Thanks for the input, ill take a look into some of those links

Mine is as below. I use to play BF3 daily. I got banned from the server I played in for almost 2 years and cut way back on playing. I alpha and beta tested BF4 a little and bought BF4 but am not a fan on how it's changed. Usually get 65-90 FPS on it tho depending on the environment/action in the game at max settings.
p8p67-m i7 2600k OC to 4.3ghz 16gb Corsair Vengeance x 1600mhz (2) WD 1.5tb in Raid 0 (1) 1tb backup 1x MSI GeForce gtx680 Twin Frozr 4GB 23" Samsung S23A700D 23" LED 42" Samsung Plasma (also as my TV in my bedroom) Xbox USB controller (for gaming... I hate mouse/keyboard, doesn't help I have ones I've had since 2005 tho) My father has a crazy custom build. He had built a computer similar performance to mine in 2012 but now has made a new one this year. He now has a 3960x but used 2 680 video cards, 64gb ram at 2400mhz, 2 SSD in raid for OS/programs and split the system somehow to use regular drives as automatic storage. His setup isn't very stable tho, it's been down from power supply and motherboard issues a couple times... which is stupid for the crazy amount he has into his build. But, the station is already so energy consuming, I don't really turn the OC options on during normal use.

The last one I put together was in the fall of 2012. I used a few parts from my old PC along with a bunch of new parts. I designed and built it to be a quiet gaming rig. When its idle, its 2-3 decibels above the ambient background noise. Background noise in my apartment when I measured it was aroud 33 decibles. When I'm gaming I can't hear it over the sound of the games.

My mobile gaming rig is an MSI GT 60 series laptop. I bought it last summer. It was about $1,000 less than an Alienware with similar specs.

My motherboard apparently got damaged when I moved earlier this year. No idea how it happened, but the PCI Express 3.0 slots stopped working. A new Z77 chipset socket 1155 motherboard was $180-$300 because nobody produces them any more so I decided not to invest in old technology and sold some of my parts then built a new system.
