Pocono N.A.S.A. track day 7-16-11

Pretty amazing event! It's a shame only 2 or 3 TST members were there. If you haven't had the chance to come out to one of these events you're really missing out. This way my first time out spectating and I'm hooked. Hopefully next year I'll get a chance to run my car.

Anyways, here are some pics from the event!

Jack and others getting ready for some track time:

Tst member Chris B. crossing the finish line during one of his laps:

A Ferrari doing at least 150mph on a straight away:

EFI logics GC:

Mike Sousa in his EFI rs ended up winning the PTC class:

TST member Jackolafedon:

Race ready 240 getting ready for a race:

EFI's evo X won the TTS class for the day:

Time attack 240 that was going to be racing Sunday:

Beastly race camaro:

One of my favorite cars of the day:

Fat tires and duct tape!:

What transformers do in their free time:

Race prepped evo getting ready for the end of the day race:

More to come!

There were so many amazing cars. These pics don't do it justice...their were probably 50-100 cars that I didn't get to photograph. If you're into car photography it's definitely an event you have to visit. Tons of amateur and professional racers with race prepped cars....and it's free to spectate!

Just like others have said, after going to a few NASA events on a race weekend, you get much less impressed with what shows up at car shows. There is just so much impressive equipment there that you can walk right up to, and the owners love to show off their work, that don't see at most car shows. Some of them will even offer to take you for rides if they have two seats in their cars.

I really wish I made it out. One of our sponsored cars was out there (240 SMAX car pictured above) and one of our best customers was out there as well in his white Evo8.

I've got pics of the white Evo8 too! I'll post them up for you when I get home later tonight.

If anyone is interested in coming out to spectate with me I'll be out at the next one whenever it is. I'll even do some shots of any TST member's cars while we are out at the event.

hmm, that looks like a pretty cool way to spend the day. May sound weird but is it something you'd bring a kid to spectate at? My son's starting to love car so i think he'd enjoy it.

Absolutely! I wouldn't let a child walk around by himself in the paddock but as long as you stick with him it would be perfectly fine to bring a child. Their were plenty of parents with their children either spectating or prepping cars together. They also have a nice spectator tower for you to watch the races from and food/drink available. Definitely check it out sometime...if your son is into cars he'll be blown away by the cars he sees at an event like this.

Awesome, it sounds like something we'd both like. He's only six so he wouldn't be walking around by himself, but we'll definitely check it out. I got to take him to his first rally (super special at STPR) and he loved it. Next i hope to take him to stages in the woods. We'll definitely add this to the list. Thanks for the info!

I need to pick up an HD gopro myself. I've got the older non HD one but it's a joke compared to the videos you can make with the new models.

Not much. Sign up online before the event...price was somewhere in the range of $200-$250 per day I believe. You'll also need a car in proper working order that can pass tech inspection. Lastly you have to wear a helmet...open face or closed is acceptable in PA.

The great part about it is not only do you get to drive on pocono for $250 bucks but you're required to drive with an instructor until he certifies you as "ready" to be on your own. To some that might sounds cheesy but getting one on one track instruction with an experience track instructor is easily worth the cost of admission.

After Jack drove with his instructor for a heat or two his instructor drove his own car and had Jack chase / follow. How cool is that? haha
