1) This car will drift. Period, no hard parking BS for me. 2) I want to run a mid 12 second quarter mile, should be enough to beat most cars out there. 3) I want the car to be stable in excess of 160mph. Here's my thought process on engines: I don't want an SR, because everyone has an SR. I don't want a KA-T, because they're also pretty common. I don't want an RB or a CA because they're both a pain to get parts for. I don't want a 1JZ or a 2JZ because I'd prefer to run a Nissan motor. Then I came to realization that I didn't want a turbo motor because well, that just more stuff to go wrong and then I have and Intercooler and BOV and blah blah blah... So I'm like "Hey!!! I'll get an NA motor, that'll be the sex!" Then I realized I want 300hp... So that means I need some serious displacement. So start looking: First I'm like ZOMG LS1!!! But they're expensive and common at the drag strip. Then I was like Hmmm.... VQ35? It's a computer with an engine attached... So then I realized that I'm gonna need a motor that fits a few things. Not boosted Must Be a Nissan Engine Easy to get basic parts for Easy to wire and tune Not a common engine in 240's So I start searching, and I almost gave up... Until I decided on a... VH45DE!!! ZOMG!!!! Most of you are going to be like, "WTF is a VH45?" Well, it's the V8 engine out of an Infiniti Q45 made from 1991-1996 or Nissan President of the same years. It's easy to find basic parts for and the motors are common in Junkyards now. They're rated at 270 something horsepower stock so I should have no problem at all getting 300 horsepower out of one. So then I'm like, "this is so win!!" until I hit a brick wall in my plan. So, the Infiniti Q45 was a luxury car, and didn't come with a manual transmission ever. So they're no Nissan transmission that bolts up to the VH45... So you need an adapter plate.... They're rare and super expensive. So a few weeks ago I was on eBay and saw one and bought it. It mates a 300zx transmission to the Vh45 and uses a 300zx clutch and flywheel. Blah Blah Blah.... Now I have an Adapter plate worth about a grand that I got for less that $300 and a 300zx Transmission, Clutch, and Flywheel sitting at my house. A motor's coming in a week or two and should be in the car by the 1st of the year. So yeah.... Here's my PLANNED mod list: Engine: -VH45DE From a 1991-1995 Q45, the 1996's had OBD 2 and made less power -Mazworx Headers -Custom Intake -Bosozoku Styled Exhaust -Multi Setting ECU Reflash -Custom Mounts -Aluminum Rad, fans, blah blah blah That's good for about 300whp all day long on a stock motor. Drivetrain: -Custom VH45DE to 300zx Transmission adaptor plate. -NA 300zx transmission -Random Stage 3 Clutch (got it with the trans so I'm gonna use it to get the car running) -NA 300zx flywheel -One Peice Custom Drive Shaft -Q45 Diff for the 3.54 final drive -Q45/300zx tt 30 spline axles -Q45/300zx tt spindles Suspension: -5 Lug all around -All new bushings -Modified front spindles -All new suspension arms -Solid subframe mounts -Powered By Max Coilovers (this thing is gonna be slammed) Brakes: -Z32 conversion all around -Working cable e-brake -Hydro E-Brake -Z32 Master Cylinder -Stainless Lines Wheels and tires: -Needs More thought, most likely 10" wide in the rear and 9" up front, no stretching tires. And Not knock-off wheels. Exterior: -Knock off Uras kit (I'm gonna drift this car, remember?) -Overfenders -New hood to clear the VH -Roof spoiler -Custom Electronically adjust able GT wing -Stickers -Other win Stuff. Interior: -Full interior -Working Heat and Maybe AC -Bolt in Cage with Harness Bar -Cool Drivers Seat (Depends on Cost) -R33 Passenger Seat -JDM Cupholder -Speedometer that goes to 180mph -JDM air freshener. Once again, that's my PLANNED mods list. Some things will change as time goes on most likely. And for those of you who are like dude you'll never finish this, the car will be built in stages with deadlines as follows: January 1st- Want to Have the VH in the car and mounted, Harnesses should be sent out that week to get spliced. Febuary 1st- VH Should have been started and somewhat running, begin rear end work and suspension work. Mid March- Basic suspension (coilovers, bushings, arms) and rear end should be finalized and completed. Mid-Late April- Brakes should be finished and finalized. Car will mechanically complete for the most part, except for extravagant parts (Modded front spindles, Hydro E-Brake, Stuff Like that) Body work will not begin until mid summer if at all next season. I want to be comfortable in the car before I begin to dump money into the exterior and interior of it. So yeah, that's the plan for my build thread lol... I just spent and hour writing so I want this to be an epic discussion. As for now I don't have many pics to show, I just have shots of the adapter plate and the transmission stuff. The engine should be in my possession on or around the 23rd of this month and then the epic work will begin.
