2009 Mustang Build

Figured I should go ahead and start with a build thread for the mustang since it's only right to lol.

Day 1 which is the day I picked it up from the dealer which was July 17 2012

First mod which was purchased on July 28 2012 was a Dynomax X-Pipe back catback

Installed it on August 3 2012

Next mod was installing Eibach Sportline Lowering Springs which were purchased on August 28 2012, and installed on August 31 2012

Before

During

After

Also on August 31 2012 I decided that after installing the lowering springs that something still needed to be done with the car. So I removed the lower Mustang decal off of the side of the car.

it looks so much better lowered, but the most appealing mod is by far removing the mustang logo. the car looks so much cleaner without it !

what mods to you have planned next ????

Thanks, one of the next mods will be 15% window tint. I want to also get a shorter antenna for it so it's not so RC car looking.

I've been apprenticing at a mustang specialty shop for about three months now, five days a week and if theres anything I've learned about this model year mustang, after EVERY mod there should be a professional tune applied, intake + exhaust then tune, then if you want more power maybe some cams and beefier fuel components and another tune, the PCM's are very touchy and even only an intake put on without a tune WILL cause it to run rich and **** it all up. These are great cars and a lot of fun if they're built right. Good luck with the build, I'm in for updates

Cause I didn't want a V8 I actually wanted the v6 to build. Everyone builds V8's.

Upgrading to the larger GT front brakes is cheap and easy. You only have to replace the rotors and caliper brackets. The V6 and GT calipers are the same for 2005-2009. If you go with bigger wheels you can upgrade to 2011 GT front brakes also.

Make sure you have a twisty caliper tool when you do the brakes. I stranded myself with the car in the air and had to have the wife drive me to Auto Zone to rent one.

Already have it from when I had to replace the pads on my G6, it's just the universal block tool. But I also found long needle nose pliers work as well as long as you can get the tips of the pliers in to spin the caliper.

I actually have a cut socket with the lips on it and it worked for 1 of them. The others just felt like they were spinning freely. The tool is awesome because it applys pressure while the caliper is spinning.

Sounds like your all set then.

I wouldn't say you technically NEED to do a tune after every one. To get the most out of it, I'd say yes.

Definitely looks A LOT cleaner without the mustang on it.

Some of the cold air intakes out there for example don't require a tune and some do. I can tell you that's because they are about the same exact size tubing wise as the stock intake system. That is a FACT. It's not pulling anymore air than stock, or at least not enough, to need a tune. The other ones that do need one, are actually pulling more in which is too much for the computer to take in, where as it does need a tune.

So please don't go with a CAI in the end that says there's no tune required.

JLT and C&L are 2 of the best intakes for the 4.0, I was also looking into the AIRAID/Roush since they're the same intake.
