bad tire wear

ok so i lowered my car n it has negative camber n my tires wear out real easily in the front i had the car aligned in the summer

i just replaced the front tires probly 6k miles ago n the threads are showin. im gettin s2 ucas to adjust the camber but thats not till i get home from school in nov(im in va tech 450 miles from home)

i dont know wat i should do:
1) buy 2 steelies(or get 4) n thro them on the front of the car to get back home
2) buy new tires for the front n hav them put on in VA but then im gonna drive back home with the negative camber

if the fronts arent that bad u can swap the front tires side to side so that the more worn area is now on the outside

but if they are that bad i would recomend gettin new tires and when you get home we can take care of ur alignment...let us know

if you actually swap the tires on the rims u can get the worn tread on the outside and still be directional

Your choices are to flip them (already posted).
But I would be weary of such a long distance if the threads are showing. One pot hole and it will blow out at the thinnest part of the thread - game over AND you are miles from home. At that time - it makes you wish you purchased new tires.

A bad toe issue will generally kill tires faster than negative camber. Your car may have just needed a more qualified alignment in the summer.

Also consider this: if you are going to align the car once and for all - for example: dial it back to ZERO or something similiar to stock:
-I would purchase 4 brand NEW tires and align the car from that baseline. (why align the car with only two good/two bad tires with different tread heights).
-Take everything (with considerable weight) out of the car as well before you align.
-Depending on the vehicle, you might need additional $$$ hardware to get the alignment settings you want (camber plates, bolts, control arms, etc).

I think you must have got a terrible alignment. Try finding someone who can adjust the toe close to zero in the front at least, just to get it not eating up your tires so fast. The UCA camber kits generally do little good. They often bang into the wheel-well and I've seen many times where they have actually made holes into the engine-bay. The integra suspension's upper A-arm is the perfect length for the suspension, so when you add a longer one, like the skunk2 one, it isn't going to have the clearance it needs.

I've been driving lowered Hondas for years, and never had tires wear out that fast. A lot of negative camber generally wears the inner tires pretty much, but rotating the tires a lot front to back will give them a lot more life, and side to side is also a very good idea (which I've done once on my Malibu...which shouldn't be hard to align, shops around here just seem to suck).

Good luck and research Honda camber kits before buying one!

If you had it aligned and the printout read fine, then they either BS'd the printout or something with your suspension is bad and it's not holding changes. And that drive down from here to VT can kill tires. But like others said, it's probably a toe problem that is contributing more to the problem rather than camber.

So depending on how bad the tires are, either flip them on the rims before heading home or go find some better tires. I had a lot of luck at South Main Auto, if you go in and ask, they'll usually let you dumpster dive in the back and I had a lot of good luck finding a lot of tires to burn up back there. They're the reason I had tires stacked to the ceiling in my collegiate suites apartment, and it was one of the ones with the high ceilings. It's hit or miss and you have to dig through the stuff, but they're free and usually there are no problems with them. Unless your toe is way out, you should be able to find something with enough tread on there. Maybe do this and grab a pair of steelies with another pair of used tires and keep them in the car and just check the tires a couple times on the way home. If they get too bad, just swap them. I wish I could tell you somewhere to align the car down there, but I never had to get anything aligned while I was there, or I just did it myself.

But just figure out a way to get home without blowing up your tires and then take the car to R/T and Pat will get you set up right.
