Plasti Dip remove the clear coat?

hey...was curious to know if any knew if it was true or not that plastidip removes the clear coat when you peel it off....currently have some powdercoated black rims, but always considered trying a dark bronze or white for a lil bit to see if i'd like it or not but always heard mix stories that when you peel plasti dip off it can pull parts of the clear coat off too...any insight would be great

is completely stock and gets great gas mileage.

It all depends on how you prep the parts before applying the plasti dip and what kind of condition your paint is in. I don't have any experience with plasti dip itself, but clear can be weakened if an aggressive solvent attacks it from the outside. If plasti dip is aggressive enough it's possible that it could somehow bond with your clear and cause damage when you go to remove it. As with anything else, try it on a small unnoticeable area first and see what happens. Every surface will be different.

No it doesn't. I painted my old GTS wheels gunmetal grey and had it on for about 3 months. I peeled it right off just like it says when I cleaned them up to sell them

lol leases new infiniti, instead of wrapping it sprays that crap on it and now its ruined. This is why we cant have nice things. Id use plasti dip on stuff i dont care about. My friend did his hood and roof (his paint was in bad shape) and a few of my friends use it on wheels, granted only cheap aftermarket or stock wheels. I assume its harder to come off a whole body panel than a set of wheels. It would be something to try on something you dont care about.

I really think it depends on the shape of the paint and clear coat that you're applying it to. If the paint and clear are in bad shape, or the surfaces haven't been prepped properly, there's a chance that it will lift.

The power washer took the paint off that infinit...not the plasti dip. I remember reading about that car awhile ago.

holy **** he's holding the power washer inches away from the car. I don't like the finish of plasti dip on body panels, the sun doesn't bounce off it, it looks like plasti dip... better off just maacoing the car at that point.

They make a clear now that gives it some shine. I like the idea for temp jobs but if your looking for more per then I'd def still go Macco.

Haven't seen any clear coat over it, I'd be interested to see that.

Painting cars is god damn expensive... waiting to get my 240 back from paint... not happy about the cost at all.
