My friend built his '91 325is with a '99 S52 built motor and a top mount GT35R. Dyno'd it up in ICS and made like 560 rwhp and 587 tq or something like that. So, driving it around we have no traction at like 80 mph and its very frightening. We put in a Racelogic traction control box but I dunno now it's just slowing the car down to keep it pointed the right direction.

One afternoon I had my car up at his garage (this is where we built my car this past winter) and convinced him we should just tub it. We're into the drag thing more than the road race thing and so he agreed it'd be cool but never jumped. That afternoon I convinced him to cut the trunk floor out and everything went downhill from there on

He did a very good job of putting a C4 Corvette/Viper IRS into his BMW by building a square tube frame back half. Its been a long probably 6 months or so, but he's great at constructing things and helped me many times on my build so I helped him as much as I could.

Anyway, I'll post some pictures for those who may be interested. We just got the thing off the lift a couple weeks ago but are troubleshooting some issues with the suspension moving up (weird I know) when he launches. Now he lowered the diff down a spot on his mounts to bring his axles more level and it should be the fix.

The axles are more parallel now that he dropped the diff in the body

Haha it was technically my idea that he eventually bought into. About 1/2 way thru I regretted pushing him to do it, but now as its nearly done it seems like a better idea haha.

But if he did all the work himself (and with the help of friends), all he had to pay for was the parts.

Well, it has a narrowed C4 vette/Viper IRS in it so with some changes to the suspension (it has dampen adjust, height adjust coils) it can turn quite well.

Yeah I mean the CCWs were a few notes, and the actual diff and brake, axle, driveshaft, and such were some bills, but all in all, its probably not as bad as you might think.

We've been talking about doing a 427 - 480 small block single 106 turbo in an older 5 series tube framed and tubbed. But, we've both got our own projects right now. That, and we don't want to die that bad.
