Climbing meet?

Talking about climbing last night made me want to go again... I wanted to see what kind of interest there would be in organizing a climbing meet?
(Kyle-what was the name of that indoor place in Jersey again?)

Post up if you'd be interested so I can see if it's worth looking into...
Apparently the cost for a full day, shoes, gear, etc. is $20 at the place Kyle was telling me about...

oh great so you want me to get halfway up the wall and then the fatigue will start to set in and i wont find a good hold and i'll be scared cause i'm so high up and then i'll have a bit of an emotional breakdown in front of all of you who know and respect me (i think)? i dunno if i'm ready to show all of you that side of me...
but i'll go though, i never did much climbing, but it was always a good time. maybe i can get some tips from kyle and ash while we're there.

I just don't like the way the harness makes my package look all puffy.

Count me in!! I used to climb all the time. Had my own rope, harness, caribiners and belay equipment. Too bad i'm too fat to fit in my harness anymore, the rope is too old to use, and I outgrew my climbing shoes.

I used to go the philly rock gym all the time. It gets pretty busy during the weekends during the winter months though. Pretty cheap.

I have tried it once or twice at a couple places and it was a lot of fun. The harness isn't exactly the most comfortable but it can be dealt with. I am up for it! I believe there are a couple places in South Jersey with rock climbing walls. THe only one I know of is Vertical Reality in Cherry Hill...

I've been wanting to try this for a LONG time. I have 2 or 3 friends that do it, but I've just never been able to get around to going. Count me in!

IM def in, as long as i dont have work. Kyle was supposed to take me a few times but he never did :thumbdow: . Ive always wanted to try climbing, it looks really fun. I always destroy those little rock walls that have at fairs and amusement parks, id like to see what i can do on a real set up.

Straight up and small little ridges aren't bad. You try one of those walls where the wall comes out towards you and you have to hang on upside down... It's suddenly not as easy.

Yea, I agree, but I think an organized trip might also be way expensive-AR...
But I'll look into it just in case...

Vertical reality is pretty cool. It usually runs ~$20 for a all day pass + harness. I also do not remember if they rent climbing shoes, probably not though - so wear somthing with a low ankle and lots of side grip, and a strong toe. They do offer belay instruction - I have no idea if it costs any extra, but I am comfortable teaching one or two and then letting them belay me the first time, then those two teach two more and so on. Matt, you might be really disapointed in yourself.. I don 't think the walls are setup for Albino Pigmys, it might be a stretch.

I've also got a extra harness and a pair of 11 size shoes if someone wants.

About going out-doors Ralph Stover is cool but slate can be rough to learn on, and I've only got one good rope left. I'm up for bouldering if someone has a nice crash pad.
