Cool My Subaru 2.5RS Rally Car Build

Hello, here is my 2000 2.5RS Rally build thread.

Here is some brief car background info: this was my first car, which I got at the age of 17. It's been my daily driver until recently where it has been stripped with the intentions of getting caged. Recently I have sold my second car, a WRX swapped 1995 Impreza L to bump start my dream of building a rally car. The car is being built under the new Rally America class of "Open Light", and is planned to make its debut in the 2010 season.

The Driver: My name is Mark Piatkowski, 20 years old. With a family background in rally and motorsport, I never believed it was too early to start rallying. But with the limited funds of being a college student, getting to rally will be a challenge.

Sponsors:
- Racelabz -- Racecar production, Rollcage installation, Custom Fabrication.
- Mishimoto -- Aluminum Radiators & Performance Cooling Products.
- Rallitek -- Subaru Performance Parts
- Schaut's Automotive -- 898 Route 9W, Fort Montgomery NY

I am open to virtually any sponsorship opportunity, any help would be appreciated.

Every time I've refreshed, different ones show up. Looks like the site that has them hosted is real slow or something and cuts off after so many have loaded.

I am of two minds on this. One side of me is crying at the loss of a really nice looking rs, but the other side of me is totally in love with an Open Light class rally car being built lol. Can't wait to see how this goes.

You obviously didn't do it on purpose so don't worry about it at all. Hey for the geeks in the crowd (me) could you explain what is accepted/required for the class you are entering? Just a general thing no need to go crazy technical.

Open Light is a new class released in late 2008. It's basically a novice focused class, where everything is basically unlimited just as in regular Open class, but it's for naturally aspirated vehicles. Open Light seems like a smarter choice for my 2.5RS than Production GT, as WRX's have a big power advantage.

So it's an NA only class? That makes sense because I couldn't figure out why you would tear this apart instead of the swapped L. Besides the obligatory Subbies what other cars are showing up in this class?

Yeah, I'll be honest, my swapped L would be wayyy to fast as my starter rally car. That, and maintenance on that thing would be $$$! Good thing I sold that car.

I dont really know of any other cars from the factory at least, that would be in this class other than NA Subys. But, the class is open to anything, so there may be possibly 2wd cars converted to 4wd cars running this class. Who knows, its rally...
