Alright guys, if you haven't seen on facebook by now, I was on Derek's dyno Friday night for some after hours shop fun. I think Derek will attest to this being one of the most low drama dyno sessions ever, car wise anyhow, the dyno was another story. ;) First pull on wastegate boost which was 33psi dropping to 32 gave us a nice 725HP. The datalog looked great so I bumped the boost up a half turn. The next run was 825HP ish IIRC at 37psi. The next run was 40psi. and 873HP. I shut the car down and checked the plugs, they looked great. Fired it back up and 42psi dropping to 41 gave me 897HP. Turned the boost up some more and it made 43 dropping to 42 for 918HP 600TQ. At this point even though I had met the goal I set after pull #3, the car was working so well I decided to keep going with the boost. Instead of going up 1 or 2psi. it actually dropped off a little and made 909HP. The next run is where it got interesting. Another small turn on the boost controller. The car just tapped 48psi and the engine acted like it had a huge load on it and RPM dropped. I thought the engine came apart. It still idled. I looked to Derek and he pointed out the screen of the dyno. "Reduce torque immediately," flashed on the screen. Derek said he saw 650TQ before the shutdown, that was 50lb/f over what it made on the 918HP run. There went the 4 digit dyno run at IMW. When the program shut down it also deleted the 918HP run, though Brandon had gotten it on video. I decided to turn the boost down and try to sneak up on the dyno's limit. The next run boost came back down below 43psi. for another 909HP run. Back up a little on the boost controller, midway through the next pull the car just unloaded and sat on the limiter that I had turned down to 9250RPM. Erb said he saw fire from under the engine and I thought the transission or an axle broke. Further investigation showed that the left pod had eaten it's optical sensor and unloaded. Erb thinks the fire was from the wastegate dumps, which makes sense. I didn't get a chance to rev above 8500RPM to see how far it carried out the power. I also didn't get a chance to try moving the cams around and see if there was any power to be had. Also, I did not change the tune on the car from my street tune. The fuel and timing maps were exactly the same when I arrived, and when I left. Not too bad IMHO. I'll get the car back over there for the second iteration of Red Car vs. Dyno. Here are some sheets and a nice video. First run. Third run. Forth run. Seventh run. Eigth run. First run vs. best run that got saved. Video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiEfa...=youtube_gdata Thanks to Erb for all his help and to Bill and Derek for busting my balls and staying at the shop late. Marco too if his Canuckistani ass looks at this thread for getting me my manifold fast!

That sick! Nice build so unassuming with the way the car looks as well. Amazing sleeper.

Thanks.
I still can't believe how well behaved this thing was on the dyno. I just wish I got the boost up to kill (50-52psi) and spun it up to 10K RPM to see what would happen. I think there's some more power left on the table. I had it out for a drive 2 weekends ago and still think it's fun.

The simple answer is because it works great.
I get a kick out of how well a MAF really works when you take the time to properly set it up and tune the car. It runs flawless. Starts easy, cruises at stoich AFR, transitions to boost without missing a beat, and gets 20+ MPG on E85. The past couple years I've driven it to the Ridley Creek Park DSM meet. I really feel at this point, there is nothing to gain from speed density but headaches in getting it to do what I want it to do when it needs to do it. All the parts are there if I need to go that way though. Just to note I am not using any of the fake MAF settings in Link.

Ridiculous numbers out of a 4cyl that doesn't look crazy as ****. Def wouldn't think it had that kind of power just looking at the bay.
Awesome job though. In to see some drag videos.

It's been a good season so far. 9.5 on wastegate pressure earlier this season and haven't had time to go back since. Hopefully i'll go late next week and turn the boost up. Stay safe over there.
