Ya you made it a bit harder on yourself buy cutting the factory towers completely out to begin with. It is easier to weld them up then cut the extra out from underneath. Looking good though keep up the good work. Need any parts feel free to pm me I can get any 240 stuff you need.

Pulled most of the rear suspension parts last weekend and throughout the week at school in Chassis Fab @ WyoTech I made tubular items.
All tubing is 7/8" .156 wall... ends were tapped for 5/8" 18 thread bolts / heim joints. To say the least, these are probably the most heavy duty ones made. I then got 7/8" nuts and drilled the threads out and slid them onto the tubing and TIG welded them in place to be a place for a wrench to go to adjust the alignment. The heim joints are left hand threaded 5/8" and there is a 5/8" to 1/2" reducer pressed in so I can use the stock 1/2" diameter bolts. The lock nuts have not been installed on the opposing end to the heim joints on the camber and traction/toe arms because I have yet to round the brackets. Once completed, parts will be probably be powdercoated a candy red or something similar. Let me know what you guys think!!! Last edited by yellow2000S/R; 12-07-2007 at 09:09 PM. |

Parts were dropped off today at a local powdercoating company... lower control arms were pulled last night and I brought them up with me to school to make this week.

Looks like your making good progress. Get this thing all together and ready to go for spring.
If you can't find a place to have it aligned we do full race alignments at our shop. We have the best new alignment rack from hunter and know the 240sx very well.

Bah... Everything on the arms themselves is TIG... the "jigs" if you want to call them that is all MIG .I dont know the series of the welders but they are Lincoln... I believe up to 185.
I sandblasted the weld zones and then did the welding and then sandblasted it as a unit (w/o the heim joints of course). Then ran the tap back through the threadded ends to clean them out again because of shrinking some from the welding. You still in Jersey? Maby Ill let you ride shotty some time haha (especially since there isn't going to be a rear seat... there is no leg room for one. However the rear will be "finished" inside. I'll probably drill out the spot welds for the rear seat backrest at a later date... probably around the same time I finish the hole in the floor. I started the lower control arms today... they should be done sometime on Wednesday. I picked the 4 jam nuts and heim joints up today... tomorrow I'll be getting more tubing to continue on after I finish fabbing up the plates and sleeve for the lower ball joints to be pressed into. Little update... The parts are sitting at PowderWorks in Mechanicsburg, Pa freshly powder coated with chrome base coat and candy red top coat... here is a pic the owner sent me!!!
ALSO, I am almost finished with the lower control arm jigs. Only mount left that I need to make are the ones for the sway bar endlinks... Then I will be making a set of them. Last edited by yellow2000S/R; 12-12-2007 at 09:27 PM. |

Nice and Shiny! Now get them on the car. Did you drop your sub frame while everything is out? Installing solid aluminum rear bushing are a must to get rid wheel hop and other subframe moving issues.

Looks good! Not sure if u used some type of lock washer spring/grooved at the nut(hemi end). All rear aftermarket arms I've seen peak performance, battle version...have it to prevent looseing up.
