when i went down there there were 2 news vans for the 10 o clock news, i was waiting for a fight, anchorman style.

btw i edit that photo a lil bit, its not that sharp either.

if any1 can photoshop that up for me that would be awesome.
im gonna keep goin down until i make it "perfect". im tryin to enter a photo contest

from lookin at my last shot compared to this one, i can say it seems little dark, i cant see the trees that well.

I liked the before pic. The sky is too grainy compared to the rest of the pic in the edited version.

Saddly it's only going to get as good as the lens on you're camera. But it's pretty darn good

Well, it's not like the editing made it any more grainy. It's just as grainy as the original, only more noticeable because the sky isn't as dark. We're editing a small res version compressed as a jpg, it's bound to happen.

next time you shoot try turning on a noise reduction (if your camera has is , i know the D50 does)

should help allot with the grain

also in photoshop the chanel mixer may help (blue channel contains noise)

That's an awesome pic. I wish I was better with the camera. I can't even take a decent picture of my dog.

have you tried layers with different exposures to get the trees...
It would be easier if you shoot it for both exposures (trees and background).

Not saying you didn't already know this but that would be called an HDR (High Dynamic Range photography). And it could definitely bring out the details in some of the darker areas where it is lost at this exposre.

Different exposure levels will show/hide different details but when combining or layering an image shot at multiple different exposres more detail is visible.

Example of an HDR
