Handicap Spots...

it is really necessary to honor this well after the establishment has closed?

never had a problem until a new officer trying to be a harda$$ decided to yell at me and several friends for it at a local meet. parking is limited and those are prime spots.

many an officer has seen us in the past and not said a word as we try hard to not bother anyone and respect the local officers as much as possible and they do the same. You all the know the story of the new guy with something to prove

As nice as i always try to be to local law enforcement this guy was unreasonably rude and i would of loved to tell him it was unnecessary for us to move. however i do not know the extent of the ordinances pertaining to this so if anyone here knows for sure that info would be appreciated.

This is all up to the Officer and his or her discretion. Technically speaking, handicap parking spaces are not on any sort of time limit and don't become regular spaces after an establishment closes. So, again technically speaking, you could receive a parking ticket for it no matter what time it is.

That is just what the law says. Again, it's up to the Officer whether or not they want to enforce it.
