Worked on the 240 for a few hours (just over 2). Pulled the power steering stuff, pulled the A/C compressor (lines were relatively empty and low pressure).

More work to come tomorrow, mainly grinding out the crap Bondo filler I used (I'm somewhat cheap... I wanted to use what was left but realized again that I hate sanding that crap filler).

Dropped the struts.

Pulled the subframe as a whole.

Showing the relatively clean bay after using 1/3 can of Engine Gunk cleaner and a pressure washer... then dropped the subframe...

Subframe sitting to the side

The stripped interior (still need to pull dash and carpet till I start patching the floor).

Started cutting in prep for the inner fenders...

Leveled the car from side to side via laying a level across the rad support and moving the stands little by little. Then picked an area in the outter corners to start the horizontal cut and then put the bottom edge of the level at that and went straight across...

3 cutoff wheels and 1.75 hours later this is the result.

Doesn't seem much like a project DD. So what size tires are we going to see?

LOL, I honestly don't know. For now, finish fixing the dents, get the car in primer and wetsanded. Get the engine finished being put back together, install clutch / flywheel combo and drop it all in. Do a full wire tuck... I dont have money right now and wont for a few more months when I finally graduate WyoTech.

I originally was just going to replace the front body panels that were damaged, and swap the engine to the cheap KA I got. The KA was leaking oil, so I ripped it apart... while it was out, decided to shave engine bay. Then I thought about tubing out the front because I like the way it looks and figured it would be a little different.

I haven't decided on rims yet. The car will be a red color... I have K-Sports (for now, yes I know they are junk), I will be making a 1 piece strut bar that ties into the firewall, and fender braces (not sure if braces will be needed with all the welding I did but I'll put them on anyhow).

Interior will be an imitation Italian leather with black suede inserts. The dash and door panels will be wrapped in the imitation leather and the door inserts and arm rest will be covered in the suede. I will be fabing up a full cage after I shave the brackets in the rear for the seats. At minimum, after the cage is painted a gloss black, I will be covering the door bars in a zipper on sleeve with Endless Motorsports stitched on the top in red.

There will be red double reinforced stitching around the seats and various seams. A black suede Nardi steering wheel with red stitching and quick disconnect.

As far as performance goes... Either KA-T or LSx with cam, heads, and headers. I have SAFC right now to tweak the tuning some just to get a little more than what is stock out of it.

Started back up today...

Ground welds, cut outer flange on well off and ground welds down.

The rust I found the other week was worse than I thought...

Were did you get your universal fenders from?? I am about to start on mine and I was just gonna fab everything myself, but if I can get fenders like that allready rolled, it'd be even better.

I got it from e-bay. The radius is nice and there is plenty of extra that you can cut off to make it form to different curves!

I gotta give you props on those inner fenders, nice work.

Welding is one of those things I'd love to learn how to do.

Done for the night. I ran out on my 2 lb spool of .030 wire, swapped tips and put in my 20 lb spool of .035 wire. Had much better luck welding with it and didnt burn through nearly as much!

Tomorrow I have to do class work so I dont know how much I will actually get to work on the car.

I've been sick since Friday. Finally felt good enough to work on and off today. What a crappy "down week" this has been. I am looking forward to Chassis Fabrication class starting next week tho!!!

I got the drivers side tub mostly done. Just need to do some final trimming then weld it in. The passengers side still needs the rust cut out from the lower part of the strut tower.
