Car Of The Month: Apr '08 - US_R33

Car Of The Month: Apr '08
US_R33's RB25DET Swapped 1991 240sx SE Coupe

TST: For those who don't know, what does your username mean?
Daniel:*It was my old car which was a 1995 R33 gts-t white skyline.

TST:*How did u hear about TST?
Daniel: I think it was about 3 years ago when I had my skyline, I met L.J. (gorilla unit 33) at a pool hall and he told me about it.

TST: Well we know about the skyline and the 240, what is your full car history?
Daniel: Well lets start from the very beginning;1989 Ford Escort 5 door no rear defroster no pass mirror maroon plastic interior shaft radio,*1990 four door Cavalier brown gold kinda color,*1992 white Chevy Corsica luxurious with its power windows and a radio with a digital display, 1994 Camry with a crazy sound system, 2003 Nissan Sentra Spec-V I bought it brand new it was my first stick car 1 blown engine and 1 blown transmission later we parted ways, and a 1995 R33 gts-t white skyline which I sold cause it was not legal.

TST: Wow i think that was more detail then most people give, So there is a pretty big gap in there from old beaters to spec-v's skylines and 240's, what made you jump to performance cars?
Daniel: I was always into cars but I never owned one that was worth modding, so once I got the spec-v I started and haven't stopped since, and I don't plan to.

TST: I think when most people see 240's they automatically assume that the owner drifts, is that what you built the car for?
Daniel: Not at all actually. I built the car as a grip car for racing in HPSE, NASA and auto-x. But I mainly built the car so that I could still drive it on the street have it be somewhat comfortable. But for me it is really about keeping it on the track and staying safe on the street.

TST: What's next mod wise for the 240?
Daniel: Next big mods are seats which I am shopping for right now, also bigger injectors since I am running out of fuel along with new cams, springs and retainers.

TST: If you could have any car what would it be?
Daniel: Hands down McLaren F1 and I would drive it every day. I have wanted one since they came out. A more practical dream car would have to be a Lamborgini Gallardo with all seasons and drive it in the snow. If your gonna spend that much money you may as well use the car all the time.

TST: I know the car was orange before, what made you switch it up?
Daniel: Well one day Andie, my fiance, was getting out of the car and as she opened the door someone slammed into it, swinging the door the other way into the front fender. At that point I figured I may as well paint the whole car since the old paint was good from far but far from good anyway.

TST: So you mentioned your fiance, is she into cars at all?
Daniel: Actually she is really into them. She has a wide body 1992 white 240 coupe with an sr20 with a s14 t28 turbo running full standalone 550 injectors with a version select kit type 1 kit for everyday and an origin labs aggressive kit for show.

TST: In 5 years where do you see yourself at with cars?
Daniel: [Yelling on the background of the phone "I want an RX-7!" says Andie] For some reason she wants a rotary, I don't really know why. I am not really sure what I want but something more exotic and something that I can fit a set of golf clubs into. But if I had to pick something maybe a Lotus Esprit, can't go wrong with mid-engined v8.

TST: Any thank you's, shout-out's or whatever you wanna call them?
Daniel: First off my fiance Andie for putting up with all of this car stuff even though she is into it too, LJ (gorilla unit 33) for helping me work on the car with construction flood lights in the middle of the night which happened quiet often last year, Matt at Import Intelligence, Evan at Exedy, Peter at Five Stars, Dominic at Endless USA, Vince at Ignited, Kevin at TWM Performance and anyone else who I may have forgotten.

TST: Daniel, thanks again for taking the time to talk to us today.
