Rocker Blockers

how important are these for the SR motors... if my eyes serve me correctly, as long as you dont over rev the motor, everything is fine and dandy without them?

Roker Arm Stoper are a good **** if you like to bounce your engine off the rev limiter, and if you ever plan on raising that limit (7.2 on 89-96 s13 sr and 7.5 on 96-98 RPS sr), after 8k rpm SR like to float the rokers (your exhaust and intake don't close fully) ****ing up your engine

if you're swapping in an SR it would be stupid to not install rocker arm stoppers....its a hell of a lot cheaper than rebuilding your head

RAS's can lead to bent valves and broken cams, intead of just letting the rockers shoot out. For that reason I will never run them.

RASs are less likely to bend valves than running no RASs at all

I have had rockers come out 3 seperate times on the same head, and have yet to bend a valve (No ras's). Rocker Arm Stoppers dont do anything with out valve springs and retainers. Rocker stoppers will bend valves if you break a rocker or if a rocker flies out.

You have to shim the valetrain properly for the rockers to stop popping out on you. If it is not shimmed correctly the rocker does not push down both valves at the same time.

I know, they are shimmed correctly. Nothing is going to stop the rockers from flying out from a major over rev. And in those cases the RAS's cause more harm than good.

consider yourself lucky that you didn't bend any valves

its not guaranteed that you'll bend a valve(s) everytime you over rev the engine....but its more of a possibility if you don't run RASs

i mean hey, to each his own right? if you don't want to spend the 60-70 bucks on ridiculously cheap insurance for your head then that's entirely up to you but i can tell you that if i ever ran an sr20 again ( god forbid) i would install a set of RASs asap
