Should I buy this turbo miata

Edit: I bought it and after "stalking" my car history, it's been through a lot. I think I may have a headache on my hands. I need a tune. How much does that cost?

Old post:
should I? I have 12 hours to buy, reply quickly , thanks

oh, they said it may have a vacuum leak in the turbo as the car sometimes dies at a full stop but always starts up again,
25,000 miles on the turbo

Try and take it lower. One thing i hate about buying cars like this is its someone elses project and you dont know what they have done to it to make it work. Its much like my IMSA i bought it thinking i would have had an engine it it right now to move it under its own power. turns out the wiring harness was all hacked up and needing a new one. Its one thing to go and buy a car like this stock. Its another to buy someone elses project.
I would say go for it though. miata's are fun just not my cup of tea.

The soft top has patched tears and says it doesn't leak, I thought I spotted this car on street road/rt 1 3 sundays ago, anyone know the history, the ford paint sounds familiar

He said he declined someones offer of $100 less for $3,500

It's because there was too many calls/emails about it,

How about for the suspension roll bar and seats then resell the rest if I don't like it,

I was told that on my IMSA and i showed up there with every dime i had..... Got the car for a good $1500 under his asking price. Remember cash talks my friend. He can have as many people show up there as he wants, if they dont have cash they cant play. I usualy bring in my pocket my bottom line of what i want to get it for, Than i have my dad tag along with me and have him hold onto the rest of the money (highest i'll go) and i make it seem like im borrowing the rest off my dad (when it is my money). Its cheap but it does work.

Try it out go up there with what you want to get it for. I gaurentee if you flash fresh $100's in his face he will budge.

Be very careful. There is absolutley no reason to do this deal at night if its an inside PA transfer and after business hours. No notery/tag place is open at this hour. Something shady is going on here.
Mos times this is exactley what your fearing (robbery) they know you have money on you (this might be why hes sticking to his price so much) he knows what your going to come up there with. Bring someone with you and meet in a public location.

Buy the car first with signed title, transfer the title the next day.

after "stalking" my car history, it's been through a lot. I think I may have a headache on my hands. I need a tune. How much does that usually cost? I could do it if I put the software in my laptop but I don't have that and I wouldn't know where to put the settings.

CardriverX, DisturbedFan, or Spocknasty want to take a look?

general dyno tuning for any cars can range from like 300 all the way up to 800... depends on what tuning device you got and how long it will take

Watch it's not stolen, that's a trick people do when selling stolen cars, they give you a signed title without being there when you go to get it notarized or whatever

Any way to check if it's stolen without being potentially charged with receiving stolen property?

My friend has a court date for that very reason.

I'll see what device it uses.
I just want it to not stall at stop lights and not be at a setting to mess up the engine or turbo. I'm not looking for maxium numbers here.

Not enough information here. What size turbo? Fuel / timing management? What injectors? What motor? What diff? What is your timing set at? Is your idle set right?

Did you get a mod list at all with it?
Dyno tuning at the rite place or with the right engine management isn't always expensive but seems like you have a lot of unknown history so it's going to be a small uphill battle getting it all figured out.
Post some pics asap

You should be ok. Its not every day that you find a theif that hands you keys car (and a title) But you should have just givin him a downpayment to hold the car till morning than went and paied him the rest during transfer. How did the meeting go? Did you meet at dudes house or did you meet at a public location. Every time i sell a car i sell it in my driveway just to show the buyer i'm not trying to pull anything. Whenever i buy a car I tell the seller i want to meet at his/her house and pay them at the transfer of the title. I'm just glad you dident get mugged.. or worse.
