Suprising N/A Drag Time.....Discuss!!!

A buddy of mine sent me this link the other night. It is one of his friends with an ecotec swapped cavy. He has been working on this for a bit of time now and well the video speaks very well for the results. http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.ph...63659&t=263659

well to be completely honest, I dont find that all that impressive. I mean I have no room to talk, its faster then my car, but I mean with a few bolt ons and stuff I think I could go 14's. Who knows maybe I'm just on crack.

That is unimpressive. The cars are slow and were never meant to be modified.

Download is slow as poo, but a 14 @ 96 vs a stock SRT4's 14 @ 99? That tells me a stock SRT4 would be walking right past his ass at the 1/4 mile mark. How the hell are you planning on impressing somebody while running a slow 14?

Not really that fast for NA with a swap. Same thing as swapping in a b series into a honda they go that fast and faster all day long.

This is very true, but also take into consideration that this car is N/A while an srt-4 is a turbo. Slap a turbo on an ecotec motor and thats a whole nother story!!!

It's a cavalier.

Hahaha - sorry, just had to. It's faster than my car, but it's still a damn cavalier...

Well it's not faster than mine, so I'll say it. It's a cavalier. Once a cavalier, always a cavalier. It can have 450hp, and still be a bloody cavalier. When you share parts with the Sunfire, you need some serious, serious help.

It's not a bad time. Do you have a full mod list (not just the one that scrolls by on the video)? I know the ecotech motors have a decent amount of potential. From what I heard you could build a full drag motor right out of the GM performance parts catalog.

Those "it's still a Cavalier" responses sound just like all of the "it's still a Neon" comments when the SRT-4 came around.

That's because it is still a neon.

What in terms of modifying the chassis have they done for the SRT4 - literally none. Improve build quality other than the motor? Like none. When you can bend back the frame around the door with your hands when you lock your keys in the car - that isn't really a quality improvement.

When you throw a v8 into an RX7, what is it? It's an RX7. What do you call an Impreza or legacy when you throw an H6 motor into it? An impreza or legacy. What do you call 240 with an RB? A 240.

What do you call a neon with a better motor? Still a neon.

What do you call a cavalier with a different motor? Still a cavalier.

No, not really. We were able to also have someone hold the door at the bottom and the person just pushed on the top frame above the window and it bent right back.

The SRT4 is still a neon. But WTF does that mean? Can neons not be modified to run 10s in the 1/4 or perform as well as vipers on a road course... because I've seen both.

Who cares what the car is. Any car can be made slow, fast, handsome, ugly, or unique.

IMO this particular Cavy is slow, ugly, and not very unique. But to each his own.
