Liked - school benifits, $20k bonus just for enlisting for a part time job

Cons - recruiters WILL 1/2 truth alot of stuff. research before signing. and you will deploy.

What are you looking to get out of joining? Did you have a certain MOS (job) in mind or are you just thinking about doing Infantry? Also, are you going Active Duty or Reserve?

Im aiming for aircraft mechanic. Hopefully a powerplant mechanic. I have 48k in school debt, i need chopped experience, and the openings for state technician jobs are my main pros right now. Im not too worried about deploying. Im really interested in the training, the experience, and the state tech jobs. Also, Im enlisting as a reservist.

Well, you won't find too much money in the Military either. But, if you are serious about the move. I would look into the Navy, Air Force, and of course. . the Marines. But speaking from first hand experience, you will have a better "quality of life" in the Navy and ESPECIALLY the Air Force. But the Air Force you will have access to all of the new Tech, etc. Marines get hand me downs. And in the Navy or Air Force you will get to do some wicked traveling. Especially in the Navy and you are assigned to a carrier. You will get to visit a lot of really cool ports!

Guard has the best benifits if you are already in the field and just want to tackle more for your resume and look for a better job. Def look into Air Guard.

Active would be if you homeless and have an interst lol

The issue is, the airforce and navy fly planes. And I want to work on choppers. Once you are a reservist you can apply for a state technician job. There is money there, or use your experience to apply for civilian chopper maintenance, again there is money there. My biggest issue is, with no experience I simply cannot afford to pay my school bills. Even if I kept my current job, the tuition repayment, and the extra 200 a month would make my life fine.

i will be most LIKELY joining the army. thinking about computer networking(33w). there is always crap for computers in civilian world. if you dont have your diploma but have your GED you need a 50 on the asvab now. if you have a diploma its a 31.

i could use more insight on the military from anyone here with personal experience. my biggest thing is finding a mos that will help me when im a civilian!!
