We do, cause they aren't that fast. Saab has 30 years of rally experience and victories, a handful of production car land speed records, and 30 years of experience turbo charging road cars. The same can't be said for Subaru. Saabs can and do make serious power.

Its not called TristateSTI's Your acting like It's The fastest most ballerest **** ever...It's called having an opinion, Everyone has one.

I personally think European cars are overlooked because there a little more expensive to Tune/Mod and Buy...I can go fast for cheaper in a Mitsubishi than I can in a Saab...But I do like the look of the 9-5 and everyone has there own personal taste...It just so happens that this site started with mostly Subaru Owners, But is infact meant for all makes and models...So hop off the Subaru Train

put a 30r on a sti and put the 30r'd saab against the sti both fully tuned with supporting mods as shown and see who wins that battle

This is a 2.0L Saab 9-3 convertible ( means heavy car) with GT3071 (not R) without LSD in Denver against a Z06 corvette (the corvette will do in the 11's at sea level)

All Raven is trying to say is that Saabs can go... and pretty Luxo too...

Take the launch out of the equation and I'd bet money the saab would produce more power and be faster. Look at JSSAAB's car, he's making all that power with A modded T25. I think he's still running the stock peanut cams too. A GT3071R saab will easily be in the 400whp to 400wtq range.

George...How can you honestly say to take out the launch? The launch is part of the race, and the launch is where most races are won and lost. That's like saying take out the meat from a subway sandwich and do the same to a bowl of pasta and see which is better then.

Of course this is all kinda funny, both Saab abd Subaru are not drag cars at all, built as rally drivers...

that said I think they are both pretty equal in the abilty to produce power department...

but one is definitely a more refined ride.... and the other can get the power to the ground faster (but shows less torque and lotsa added weight) So Like I said.. pretty equal....

riddle me this mr raven that 30r'd saab did it have a fully built bottom end? if so thats the deciding factor darling

sti's can produce well over 400 whp and tq with a 30r with a stock long block ie heads, bottom end, and valvetrain and just like vypur said the launch is part of the race man if the saab drivers is a compitent driver he would not have to complain about the launch i know plenty of guys who can launch a fwd like and awd

I know the launch is part of the race, and I can launch my car very well as I've driven it for 2 years now. If upped my power I'd just get a beefier clutch and go from 2nd.

As for what a saab can handle, the 9-5 aero can handle 300 bhp (the pistons are weaker than the old 9000) on bone stock internals, the pistons being the weak point as they're not forged. Swap them for forged pistons and the stock rods will take you to around 450 - 500 bhp. From there it's forged rods and the engine can take whatever you can throw at it, stiffer springs and mechanical lifters if you wanna spin it to 8-9K.

The older 9000 (B234) can handle 400 hp bone stock with 200K on it. We're tuning my friend's 9Kwith 190K on it up to 300hp real soon.

http://93ssr.com/engine/
This one is producing 850 whp.

Oh and Maptun is a saab tuning company, they did the tune, not built the engine. It was probably pistons, maybe rods, injectors, bigger fuel pump, and cams off a 9000.
