RockNRace's bug eye and 2012 hatch: got the daily tuned!

hey guys. i just put my deposit down on friday and will picking it up monday

2012 wrx hatch only upgrade option is the STi 5mt short throw

unfortunately there will not be a whole lot of fabrication work like there was in my volvo build (which i miss everyday) but i think this car will fill the hole in my heart.

i was originally going to buy a 500 abarth. but that fell through due to a shadiness. then a volvo c30, but couldn't afford the insurance. then it was the chevy sonic turbo 40mpg sounded good but there was one problem. i've ALWAYS wanted a wrx/sti and it was my dream car since 2002, i liked all the other cars. but i didn't love them. i stopped in at the dealership last night just to "kick tires" i turned the corner and here she was. i said "i have to have it" went inside, made some phone calls and an hour later she was mine!! I'm so excited. monday won't come soon enough.

Pics from yesterday

will update more with pics monday night!

plans are simple. enjoy it.
no modding this one, just smiles per miles...and okay maybe a spt cat back

car is home! no pictures because too dark. but man am i happy! although ill be making payments for a long time, it feels great to have exactly what i want and knowing no one but me is to thank for it! at the end of every day of work ill come out and remember why i bust my butt to make a dollar! first thoughts are...IN LOVE, amazing how the car rides, handles, shifts, drives, everything. the break in period is 1000 miles @ under 4k rpms, I'm almost afraid to see how this thing does at 6500rmp, she's already a rocket ship and its not even trying. good thing is this will teach me to be responsible with the car. will update with pics asap! but still, so pumped!

Congrats on the car. I told myself I wouldn't mod my Juke when I got it, then I found out that there is a good amount of aftermarket for it, and the whole "no mod" plan didn't last too long lol.

Good luck with it!

well i drive almost 100 miles every day, so i definitely want the car to stay reliable and maintain decent gas milage. do wish 1000 miles would hurry up so i can open it up a bit. car is fun to drive, i plan on just driving on the windy roads around my house all weekend to just enjoy it.

anyway, pics

gave my beautiful girl her first bath today, and also named her.

everyone meet Keiko ("cake-oh") japanese for "the adored one"

double bucket method with some good meguiar's car wash. also wiped the interior down with natural shine and vacuumed the carpet. my goal is to do this every weekend and waxing every other. i figure since i will at least own this car for the next 6 years, i better keep her looking fresh. More than likely ill keep her forever, my long commute will rack up miles in a hurry. she likes to be driven and I enjoy her company, so that'll be just fine with me.

finally surpassed 1000 miles this morning, with only a few minor "over revs" along the way. so i must say HOLY CRAP this thing moves. ive driven alot of race cars that weigh sub 1000lbs with ~130 horsepower, but never have i experienced acceleration like that of an awd turbo car. those of you who modify this from stock form are nuts, cuz this thing is plenty fast for street use. in other notes i did one of those hard pulls from a stop and got a firm wake up call from the dreaded 1-2 shift. pulled into 2nd at like 6k rpm and got a nice grind. not sure if its just the trans or me accidentally not pulling it entirely in gear before i let the clutch out. probably driver error. but its definitely gonna remind me to not do that since im not really wanting to buy a trans.

Cliff notes: fun fast car. you guys are crazy. 2nd gear is a wimp.

well not much has changed on the wrx. driving to work and enjoying her. did install a boost gauge to help with fuel milage on the highway. decided to go with the spt one because its a nice piece and matches the cluster. install sucked though. routing the vacuum line is a nightmare, finished product

and now for the big news. in order to keep me from modding my daily that i owe way too much money on, i picked up this little girl. and when i say picked up, i mean slid out of my buddies bay and into my bay in our garage we share. its a real 2.5rs in world rally blue. but other then that its a shell. plans are to wrx swap it, cage it, good suspension and take it racing at the road courses around the area. im going to look at a wrecked wrx tomorrow for a donor car =]

definitely a project. stay tuned =]
