got the new cables for my ps2 and what can i say besides 480p ftw! im watching TCM's remaster of "double indemnity" and the picture is so sharp you can clearly make out barbara stanwyck's smallpox scar. i cant even imagine what 1080p must be like

composite is the way to go if you dont have HD.

something else to consider is having your standard def TV calibrated, meaning the correct settings for the sharpness, picture, color, white balance. When its all set up right it looks even better....

they sell DVDs that have calibration systems on there where they will put up color charts so you can set your colors to match right.

not necessarily. You can run 1080p through component. It's just that not many TVs are able to accept a 1080p signal through their component inputs. It's ghey, I know.
