Check the fuel lines from the filter to the rails. If they are backwards it's no start.

I agree with Kiper, but I'd change the order. Turn the key to the ACC position, which is the one before the car will begin to crank and listen for the pump to turn on. From the images on Google, it would appear that popping the back seat out will aid you in being able to hear the pump priming due to its location in proximity.
If the pump turns on, good. Fuel filter never hurts to change if you've no record of it being done, but fuel pressure may be tough to measure yourself. What was the condition of the car when you bought it that it didn't run at all? Was the battery just dead? The more details you give us, the better we'll be able to help you.
