Missed Toll going to NJ Beaches

I went down the shore a month or so ago when i came to a toll. When reaching into my pocket to get money i noticed it said COINS ONLY. No one was around and i didnt know what to do. A sign ahead read "If machine fails honk and wait 10 seconds". I did so. I was just wondering if i will be billed for this or doing what the sign did prevent me from paying toll.

I own EZ pass but for some reason didnt have it that day..haha
