Please help make a famous US road safer! (Petition)

While browsing the Tail of the Dragon website ( Tail of the Dragon ), I noticed they have a running petition to restrict the Dragon to non-commercial vehicles only. The reason? On Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011, a day when my gf and I arrived to the Dragon, a rider was killed by a flatbed semi that was in his lane. While this is a huge problem for motorcycle riders in particular, this could just as easily have been a car... Tuner or pedestrian, it doesn't matter.

Here is a link to the petition: http://www.change.org/petitions/ikes...rcial-vehicles

Hopefully this will finally get rid of this ongoing problem. Please sign if you don't mind. I know a lot of people ride on TST but it matters for everyone that travels the road, even on a daily basis. The road is HEAVILY patrolled daily and it is respected by all.

The speed limit is 30mph and even at that speed, the road has it's DANGEROUS spots. It is no place of tractor trailers or anything bigger than an SUV for that matter.

Signed! I have seen way too many videos of motorcyclists being run off the road here. Thank you for making me aware of this petition. Let's hope this ends well.

Signed, even though I haven't had the chance to take a ride on this road yet, I agree that all should sign this petition.

Eh, I used to live down there. There are entirely too many factories in that area of TN and I cant imagine anything changing. There are also a ton of paper mills in that part of TN, and the 18 wheeler's that take the tree loads to the mills everyday, have caused countless accidents, and a couple deaths each year, and they still have yet to change any policy regarding them.

It isn't going to happen. They aren't going to hurt local businesses by closing a public road to trucks just so people can cruise on a nice road.

Many public roads are closed to 18 wheelers due to safety reasons. (Such as all county roads in NJ). Business will survive if they need their supplies delivered via an alternate route or by a smaller truck. If one cannot traverse a road without crossing a double yellow (let alone completely blocking the opposite lane in a blind turn...), it should not be legal for that vehicle to be on said road. However no, it will not change, at least not until some high profile person gets taken out.

People have been dying on this road for years and without people driving on these roads they are dangerous. This won't ban the trucks but it will get people who matter thinking about it.

Do you want the trucks off the road for public safety, or do you want them off the road so you can break the law with less risk.

And don't even compare NJ to TN, two totally different agendas.

Yea people "break the law" on the dragon but a lot of people don't and are dying. The road is not fit for a truck.

The double yellow is there and you BY LAW can't pass over it. Trucks do and that's against the law. It doesn't matter what they are doing.

Two commercial vehicles could not pass on this road.
End of story. This should have been done long ago.

I don't understand how trucks can even make it through. It's literally almost physically impossible. Hell, a full size pick-up is almost too big.

Just watched the video... That makes it pretty clear.

And I signed. Was down this weekend and it compelled me.
