I've been looking at 98-00 Firebirds lately as a new daily driver. Something about the mean LS1, with a 6-spd and still being able to eek out some high way economy really does it for me. Can't beat the sound either!

To the O.P. have you changed the plugs yet? If this is your first F-body LS1... enjoy that night of frustration.... : )

Plus you can get them pretty cheap now. Im not going to lie they ARE NOT good in the snow no matter what people tell you. Before I had my winter car I got caught in a minor snow storm with it with maybe 1-1 1/2'' of snow on the ground and the car could not make it up a slight hill, had to leave it at work overnight. I then threw on my studded snow tires/rims (got caught in the storm by surprise, thats why they werent on) and they help, but even when there was a coating of snow on the ground they will spin.

However you can't beat a 6 spd. LS1. My car runs very rich right now because the long tube headers/y-pipe deleted 2 of my 02 sensors, I still got 22MPG out of it getting on it a few times. I know people have gotten north of 25MPG...

LOL yes I did change the plugs/wires in August. It actually wasen't as hard as people make it seem. The #8 plug was a pain to get to from the top, so we just jacked the car up and got it from underneath.

Haha...yeah, i tried going that route. Except my #8 was put on by the brute force of a lumber jack and I couldn't get enough leverage to free it. So in it stayed.

Very nice! If I got my hands on an F-body, it would be a Camaro SS or a WS6 without a doubt. A buddy of mine here in Charlotte is making 450rwhp in his WS6 naturally aspirated and it sounds like a stock car. Very potent machines! And I like the painted rear bumper. Looks good.

i have the ms3 in my car, runs high 11's with it but im nowhere near setup for running the car on motor, tight converter and no gear. you are gonna need some 4.10's at LEAST for that cam.

with the minimal mods done to your ws6 i'd be surprised if it ran faster than a mid 12 on a drag radial. get a rear, clutch, driveshaft, maybe even suspension and the car could see mid to low 11's. not to say that it won't be making enough power, you just won't be able to put it down without breaking multiple things or spinning.

NICE clean car, good luck with it.

Yeah I plan on upgrading the rear probably to a 12-bolt with 4.10's, just simply do not have the money for one right now. I do not expect more then a mid 12 sec. pass out of it in its current state, I have alot more I have to do to it yet, however a mid 12-sec car is a pretty damn fast daily driver Like I said I plan on a 12-bolt rear, and clutch will probably be an LS7 clutch. The driveshaft I already put a steel one in so that should be alright. Unfortunitly due to the stock rear I will not be putting DR's on it, I know they will help me ALOT, I just cannot risk it right now.

just had a ls7 clutch/ls2 flywheel combo put into my daily driver stock 99 z28. great clutch, great drivability. i upgraded all hydraulics with the drill mod too which in my high miles car it needed it.

i agree, mid 12's is fast for a daily driver. you'll be able to put a hurting on most people on the highway- your car should trap 115mph++ with a good tune/driver.

$$ seems to be the only downside of owning one of these cars go figure.

i broke a stock steel driveshaft, VERY scary experience. you are gonna have to modify it or get a custom one anyway when you get a 12 bolt... www.dennysdriveshaft.com = the best!

good luck with it.

Yeah the car already traps 111MPH. I will be getting the Texas-Speed mail order tune. I also broke a driveshaft, the stock aluminum though. I put big slicks on the car and BOOM. Very scary experience, thanks for the link too!

Once you get used to the car you can drive them in the snow. However they aren't very safe lol
Once you get a tune you'll see 30mpg on the highway.

Watch those pacesetter headers. No offense but they are JUNK. They have a tendacy for whatever reason to leak and not properly sit against the head. I used to keep a few extra header gaskets around.
