Front: Rear: SUPER grabby, not a lot of modulation maybe 1/4 of what Hawks had, pretty dusty, but not too loud. Bedding went well but I noticed they engage ABS over bumps on the street. I was told by the fellow who suggested these to me that once the tires get hot and sticky on the track, the ABS issues will go away and that for a while I'll be too scared to brake as late as they are capable of. Still need to install ducting, probably next month, and even out ride height some more and tweak alignment.

Bedded rotors. Super dusty, though some have said this is more-so the case initially but the dust levels taper away.
Probably won't have time to install ducts by the 27th but I do want to make a heatshield for the turbo in the meantime and then tackle a few more small odds and ends after that.

Started working on a heat shield for the turbo. This is a trimmed up piece from a Mercedes S-class that sat near the fuel tank. It's kind of nice because the bump in the piece fit almost perfectly around the turbo and just needed to be bent a little for the wastegate rod. Had to do a lot of cutting behind to get it to bend down behind the downpipe, but unfortunately the clearance in 2 spots back there is so close I'll have to build a second shield to block off the whole Brake Booster and master Cylinder area. I want this shield to be easily removable if I need to quickly service the turbo nuts or studs in case of something coming loose.

NJMP Lightning lap at 1:19, watching the video, I see opportunity to pick up more speed in just about every turn, and improve the lines

Oh absolutely so! I'm trying to convince Arkady to do one. There was a guy with a blue M4 there that made me think

Missed the last track day I was registered for due to rain and slicks, but I've got a few more updates I'll put up this week. Meanwhile, just a random photo

Picked up a spare trunk and installed this new little spoiler, 100% clear visibility and while it's not as effective as a GTC200, it's still functional, and at 1/4 of the cost of a true wing on uprights. It's actually barely even visible
Next step is building a SuperMiata bumper like this but with black HDPE material, and 2 holes right near the mouth for brake ducts Luckily i found a local guy who was parting out a crashed MSM in my color so I can get the front bumper cheap, and I got the spare trunklid from him also

that bumper needs a splitter! That's one heck of an air dam.

I think you'll want a proper splitter on the airdam to balance the aero... and then side skirts to add more overall grip... and a proper flat bottom... and a diffuser
You're starting down a fun path. Do it cheap for testing and figure out what works for you and the balance of the car. |

Thanks guys. According to some data people put up, my stock front end generates 100lbs of lift at 100mph. Adding that bumper turns that into around 100lbs of downforce at 100mph. Adding a splitter external of that can actually then unbalance the car, that front dam makes a HUGE difference, probably enough to balance out a GTC200, so doing more work up front is just not needed.
There will be an alumalite splitter under and behind the plastic dam to reinforce the bottom, and also to give it shape and proper airflow.

Splitter will be similar to that. I also plan on making the sides of the splitter wider so they can push that HDPE stuff out and let the air flow around the wheels instead of into them, which also helps with the whole lift situation

That's some good info on the front end of the car. Nothing like a 200-300 lbs downforce change. I'm curious and maybe you mentioned it. Does the car understeer now?

I haven't had the chance to test the spoiler on a track, but blackbird fabworx runs one on their car with a stock front end and has no issues, in fact many people do. There is enough power to counter understeer, and I'm not pushing hard enough to hit that limit yet anyway. The reason I want to make the front end is to preserve my MSM front which will get dicked up on track very quickly, and because I can do it for so cheap. If I don't like it its not a big loss, but for the cost (around 200 including the alumalite splitter) its a no brainer to try. I can also make my mouth opening slightly smaller to create better airflow to the rad

Guy right near me has an almost stock (AEM intake and FM turboback) MSM that just brought back to many memories. Cars are so similar yet so different

Been a while since I updated this. Had one last event at Thunderbolt on 8-31-16 and haven't driven it much since then. Need to build radiator ducting for some cooling issues. Also need to install a few gauges before I do any further events so I can know what's going on. Here's a few snaps from the last event.
Also had a friend make me a small heatshield for the turbo. Not the prettiest but I may paint it hi-temp black in the future. Tire shot, not sure if I should dial back camber or drive harder. Only running -2.5 front which isn't a lot for a track themed Miata on this tire.
