What are you getting a new car for ? They are both good cars if you say why your looking at them though that will help.

I would say altima se-r because I am a fan of Nissan, but it's hard to find an altima se-r that doesn't have a lot of miles or has been beat on. You may have better luck finding a better taken care of ms6.

Whew.....I'm sure the mazdaspeed would be a lot more fun to drive but the cost of maintenance is high and the 1 friend that has on there always seems to be something wrong with his. I am a Nissan fan as well if you could find a SE-R in good shape I'd go that route personally. This is a tough question because we also don't know if you have plans to mod soooooooo if you plan on modding the Mazda is the better route obviously. I don't know man I could go on and on if you have money to burn buy the Mazda!!!!

this is for a daily and yes i do plan on modding. I was looking at stats and what not of the two cars and they seem pretty equal, i really like them both but cant decide on which one to chose. I am have about a 14k limit on price of the car, so suggestions on other cars that are on the same level are welcome.

Do some research. The AWD system in the MS6 isn't a good one, and the MS6 transmission is prone to problems and failures. If you want a massive headache get the MS6. If you want something more reliable but slightly less fun, the Altima SE-R is a great choice. The VQ35DE is a great platform, the car looks great, and it is pretty easy to mod. The problem with those are they are hard to find in a 6-Speed and it is hard to find one that hasn't been beat on. But then again, anyone who has owned a MS6 most likely beat on that too. I personally would stay away from the MS6 and go for a MS3, that car is just a blast to drive.

I would definitely say the speed6, maybe just because Im a mazda fan but its also AWD and I think a little bit faster (could be wrong) but my friend has a speed 6 and loves it.

I second this notion.

Every make / model has its ups and downs.

The MS6 would be fun and fast to drive, but like it was said before, mazda doesnt exactly make the best AWD system and the cost of maintaining it would be greater over time vs the Nissan. The nissan wouldnt be quite as fun as the mazda but it would prob be more reliable, and that 3.5liter v6 would not disaapoint you, so dont think that by turning down the mazda your not getting a car with some balls.

Im not trying to sound biased towards any cars, nor am i saying ditch both and go for a subaru. Being that i drive one, i would naturally take the L-GT no prob, but subarus have their share of issues too, ask any 02-07 WRX owner who has added significant power to their drivetrain without upgrading the trans (excluding 4eat). The 5-speed transmissions arent a fan and will go boom. Also, pertaining to me, i came across the infamous N/A headgasket leak issue that was infectious of all early model subarus. I just got done paying out a d*ck-ton of money to have them replaced (got a few other stuff done too) because the job requires motor removal.

If your looking to save cash along the road as far as maintenance (and headaches) go, Id say the Altima is your best bet.

If you can find a low mileage one I do like the legacy's alot, if not the se-r is one of my favorite cars of the last 10 years. Really quality cars, but they were never realized to sell on a large scale so unfortunately there rep isn't very built up, but the people that know them love them.

Not sure what a "s dece" so I will just pretend you are referring too your AP1. And a MS3 felt flimsy compared to an AP1? FWD turbo and RWD N/A. Yea they are going to drive completely different. Do you think my boosted Spec-V and N/A Z31 feel anything alike? One goes fast and torque steers into everything, and the other, well it just drives and leaks oil lol.

Don't compare a MS3 to a AP1, that is your problem. If you drive the MS3 for what it is, a well built FWD boosted car, I think you will enjoy it more. I happen to love the MS3's and I have no idea what you mean by Flimsy. I have driven a MR-S with K-Sports and that thing handled like a dream, an MS3 with stock suspension couldn't compare to it but I would not call it flimsy compared to the MR-S.

I don't know much about Suby's so I can't put stock in them, but I have been around friends who were working on one, and they are not fun to work on at all. Maybe it is just me but to change the spark plugs on an Outback was the most ridiculous task ever. No adult hand could fit in the narrow area to change them without hassle and headache lol.

I say give the MS3 another chance, or get a Protoge5 and boost it. Those things are some of the best handling FWD cars.

I can and have beaten ms3's in my altima therefore they are full of fail. I like them but to talk about them having power is misleading.

???

It's not misleading at all. Mod for mod the ms3 will make more power because it's turbocharged....If the person driving the ms3 doesn't know to short shift they will run dramatically slower times, but even those slower times would be competitive against a vq altima.

I like the ms6 and they're not as bad as people are making them out to be; if you plan on heavily modding it and driving it hard though you will see what they're talking about. It's dependent on what your personal goals are. The altima se-r is a also a great choice in a 6 speed. (P.s. if you get one sell me your wheels cash in hand ).

The legacy gt & the ms3 are also great choices.

Also an ms3 isn't flimsy at all. It's an extremely well built car that drives very nicely. Like someone else mentioned comparing an s2k to an ms3 isn't even remotely fair as they're completely different in every single aspect.
