Definitely go with the Evo. ~600whp on stock bottom end FTW.

can u compare an evo or sti to an rx8? not talking smack, but i just feel the evo and sti are at a whole different level than an rx-8. if you want more bang for your buck id get an evo. if you just want a car you're not going to do much with i'd get an sti

Just to put this out their a STI has better interior then a Evo. Evo's interior feels like it was made in china, in the winter alot of crap rattles.

STi and Evos are on a diff level than RX8s....and when i said before about the Evos having a nicer interior than the STi's i was talking about the seats and the fact that everything isnt blue lol But the STi's fit and finish is much better than the Evo..its not a Audi but then again its not made to be luxury.

If your going to want big power and go crazy with it....evo.
If you want around 300awhp and a nice daily.....STi.

this dude drives an RX8, I dont think he cares about pushing the limits of the power envelope. He proby cars more about the overall driving experience, something an RX8 offers alot of.

Yes u can, to my knowledge 04s and early 05s can send up to 65% of the torque to the rear wheels, it definitely does change the driving dynamics, and u can get some good oversteer going on.

Mid 05s+ to my knowledge, had the torque split lowered to 54% being sent to the rear, still a rear bias.....but as u might guess, its a bit less RWD like in driving dynamics. (Subaru purposely wanted less understeer due to driver safety concerns, I can explain it more if u want but there was lready a huge arguement in another thread when I brought it up lol)

This is all nit picking though, any car u get that is a WRX or STi is a fantastic machine that u will have a blast with.

Why stay away from 04s?

as far as I know the only difference is that during 05 (unless it was 06 they did that in), they lowered the DCCD torque split so there was less rear bias (not a fun change). and they added a fuel cut off.....that can be bypassed by cutting into the green wire under the right side of the steering wheel.....ie the cutoff might aswell not even be there cuz u can still steal the car in under a minute.

So theres really no point in not looking at 04s, unless ur aware of some other issues with them that somehow havent arisen in my car?

please enlighten me if u do

this. although there are plenty of of evo owners who have stock cars or 300whp and are plenty happy.

Well I really like the idea of being able to split the power to be more rear biased, oversteer is always fun ;) and i ove my rx8 but its just not fast enough although it handles great, I hate getting beat off the line by people in ****tly little cars

I do agree that the STi is not built like the Evo in terms of handling power, but if you are throwing down 500 or 600 AWHP on the stock motor... well, I don't care if you have a 4G63, you're going to blow that thing up sooner or later.

It's always cheaper to do it right the first time. Remember that. And if you blow up a built motor... well the Universe hates you.

04s have 5x100 hubs that are weaker than the 5x114.3 the 05 and up have, also the interior is slightly different. I sat in a 04 and the overall interior seems cheap and not as nice as the 05s and up. Other than that there isnt many differences.

STi 6MT> Evo 5MT, def 6MT The 6MT in the STi is borderline bulletproof

I wish i had a STI 6MT in the evo. Down the road i would have to ship it to shep or do a swap.

i dont think it would work like that...partially because of the boxer motor and how it sits compared to the I4 of the Evo.....wouldnt want to **** on your dreams though and that would be awesome if someone did it lol

sti or evo are both nice. i was never really a fan of the rx8's.

its all what you like/want to put money in. any car can make 600whp, just depends how much $$$$$ you have and want to spend on it.

for me it was a toss up between evo/sti. one of the reasons i went with the sti is for the boxer rumble
