I hope I don't have any issues, it is my only vehicle currently and even tho I have AAA I hate being on the side of the road.

I'd think about having it replaced, just to be on the safe side. If mine went in 90K, yours may or may not be too far behind...

Well once I have a full tank it is quiet, I will try to replace the fuel filter this weekend and see if I find anything bad in it. Problem I have is I am far from home most of the time, and I do not trust shops around here to do the job, I would only bring it to one shop or do it myself at home.

Most fuel filters are a 10 minute job... especially since you probally don't need to even jack your truck up first! A simple set of sockets and maybe wreches is all you usually need.

Yeah, on my ranger, it was an in line fuel filter that was right along the frame rail. 10 minute install, easiest thing I have done to that truck.

even replacing the pump in the tank isn't hard if you do it when your tank is near empty.

Tomorrow is now starting to look iffy on that. I want to go so bad though.

The tuner at my other job said I have to take my car back home since it's going to be too busy for the next couple weeks. I've been patient with it all and if he can't get to it now, I don't see him getting to it anytime soon. I'm going to try somewhere else.

Sorry if I'm a little late jumping in here but If you're @ 97K you're rapidly coming into GM Truck Fuel Pump territory. It's not abnormal for them to be loud, the impellers inside the pump start hating themselves and start whining a little more than usual before they take a ****.

This is about as common as common gets with GM Trucks, anytime you get over 90K you start playing russian roulette with your fuel pump every day. My S10 went @ 101K my brother's Tahoe went @ 85K then again @ 116K (Aftermarket Crap) my buddy's Silverado went to 103K and another buddy's Sonoma was the longest lasting one I EVER saw with 118K on the OEM pump.

I would plan for it and either be ready for it or nip it in the butt before it leaves you stuck somewhere. The OEM GM pump is about $300-$400 and it takes 3-4 hours to drop the tank and swap the pump ( or pull the bed off the truck but I dont think thats an options for you)

I know it's not hard but GM used steel hard lines into the filter and the fittings are rusty. Plus I am fat and the step bar doesn't allow my lumptious self to get under the truck without ramps.

Yeah I guess it depends. I read on Avalanche forums and a lot of people went to 130k+ on the original pump. I guess I will look info getting it replaced soon. And pulling the bed off is not an option haha.

BP Blaster the fitting every day for a few days before you do it. They will come right off like they are brand new again. I sware by that stuff. I've never stripped or broken a bolt since I've started using it.
