Last year i went with a caravan that left from 222 wawa if i rememer right we had a mass amount of cars and we all ended up getting broken down to like 10 to 15 groups by the end of it and half got led in the wrong direction at one of the split ups... It said bring walkies i had 4 but no one else brought them so its inevitable to get split up... Its more so the competance of being able to follow as well as remembering people are following you its give and take i may be rolling with the caravan but dont know as of yet may be in a different area the night before

I'm coming from the Scranton wilkesbarre area and may be bringing a caravan as well. I'd like to try and meet up with this one if possible.

I already commented on this before:

Almost feel as though most people just show up from word of mouth without being on the list on this forum, so just be prepared just in case a lot more people show up. As for walkie talkies.. almost no one had them last year.

Everyone should also bring a copy of directions printed out or even a GPS so if we get split up, whoever is at the front of the next pack of cars still knows where to go and can lead everyone else that's behind them.
222 was nothing but stoplights which made it impossible to keep the ENTIRE group together.. this is why EVERYONE needs to bring directions and know where they are going ahead of time! Techboy said he will try and make copies of the directions once we figure out a route to take.

We'd love to have you as long as you meet up with us before we leave!! The more the merrier!

This meet always fills up FAST, so we need to leave at 10am SHARP if we intend on getting decent parking.. in the past we left around the same time and still had to park far away at the meet. Since this one is at an airfield there should be more parking.. but better safe then sorry.

Spread the word, bring your friends!!

I am in complete agreement civhatch92 ... I organized a mini-caravan last year that left from Quakertown and some people showed up late, we left late, and had to park by the Lowes which was like 8 parking lots from where everything was happening. We're leaving at 10. I'll have printed directions for people who want to wait for their friends, but the rest of us are leaving at 10.

On another note, I might just have to take a drive in the next week and go one way and come back another to see which is better. I agree with the 309 construction thing ... although it is getting better, they have most it paved now.

Redline ... not that I don't want you to be a part of our caravan ... I'd love to have you guys ... but honestly, you might be better just staying on the TP from Hazleton. It's up to you guys. Promenada Shops are a/b 15 minutes off the Lehigh Valley TP exit.

If everyone is cool with it (I'm just tossing this idea out there) I'm thinking about taking some windy back roads from the Promenade shops to 313 below Q-town. Becuase I live in the area I know some roads that won't show up as a "suggested route" by Google. It avoids the construction on 309 and the bridge that is out on 611. 313 is one lane and kinda slow, but there's not a lot of lights and we'll be able to stay together. 313 will take us to 611 in Doylestown, we can pick up Bristol Pike and we are at the Park.

I hope that way isn't super long.. I was messing around with goggle maps dragging the route other ways and going towards 313 and then down is almost 10 miles more and almost 10 minutes longer.. we should leave BEFORE 10am.. we're NEVER going to make it by 11

I'm pretty good friends with one of the main organizers of this event who also happens to live in the area as well. I gave him a call last night to ask how he's been going down lately since he's been visiting the field for organization purposes and he said he's been traveling the way I list above. So, I think that's how we're gonna go since there's problems with 611 and 309. I'll put together a map on google and link it up sometime in the next few days.

How about going down this way?

Start: Saucon Valley Promenade Shops
1. Head southwest on Center Valley Pkwy/Saucon Valley Rd toward Corporate Pkwy and Continue to follow Center Valley Pkwy - 0.9 mi
2. Turn left onto PA-309 S - 21.6 mi
3. Turn left onto Line Lexington Rd - 295 ft
4. Slight right onto County Line Rd - 11.2 mi
5. Turn left onto PA-332 E/Jacksonville Rd - 2.4 mi
6. Turn right onto E Bristol Rd - 0.6 mi
7. Take the 2nd right onto Newtown Rd / Warminster Community Park - 0.3 mi

Well, alot of people are complaining about the construction on 309 and the inability to stay together due to the lights on 309. And ... County Line Rd. is just about the worst road in the state of PA for congestion and lights.

But hey, if everyone says that's how they want to go .... I'm down.

My other 2 idea's, I was thinking was either -

Meet up at the Sunoco rest stop on the Turnpike and meet up with the Pocono Caravan @ 9:30 - which could be the largest caravan going down as a group.. I think around 50 to 60 rides..

or

Take 309 to Quakertown to 313 to 611 to Bristol Rd - it adds 10min to the trip but not as many lights along the way..

- You will never make it through Quakertown and South to Line Lexington Rd with out getting separated, far toooo many lights and traffic.

-The smaller the the caravan the less headaches there will be with getting separated. That being said I would not recommend joining 2 caravans together just to say we had the biggest one.

- Down 309 to 313 to 611 to Bristol Rd is actually the best and fastest way when it comes to keeping a group together. There is basically only one way there from the PA Turn Pike and that will turn into a massive cluster long before 11am due to the majority of attendees coming from that rout.

- To avoid the 309 construction your best to leave the Promenade Shops toward 378 and get out onto Richlandtown Pike to 313. 309 may get paved beforethe 22nd though....? If thats the case then just go right out to South 309.

I just added a route to the 1st post.

It's the "back roads" route which adds about 6 mins. Total time is showing as 1 hour 8 minutes. If 309 is paved and we can go straight down it'll show as 1 hour 2 minutes.
